According to YouTuber Rikuda, Valve has increased the payment to map creators by 20%. Based on rumors known in 2021, map developers were supposed to receive $50,000 for 5x5 mode and $20,000 for 2x2 mode.
Yesterday, Valve added five maps to the game, namely: Thera and Mills for Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch modes, Memento and Assembly for the Wingman mode, and Pool Day for the Arms Race mode. According to the YouTuber, developers will now receive $60,000 if their map is added for the 5x5 mode and about $25,000 for the 2x2 mode.
Map developers will receive a fixed amount, agreed upon in advance, for the duration of the map's presence in the game. The map will be in the game for about five months, and it was due to these negotiations between developers and Valve that news of the update emerged early.
Valve has only paid more than $150,000 for a map twice, when they purchased Tuscan and Anubis because they wanted to add these maps to the official game pool.
