The best finals in the history of CS:GO Majors

BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 playoffs will begin on May 18, although we have already seen a lot of exciting matches in previous stages. Before the start of the decisive stage, Cover.gg invites you to recall the best finals in the history of CS:GO Majors.

ESL One Cologne 2014

In ESL One Cologne 2014 finals, the spectators expected a repeat of the finals of the first Major in the history of CS:GO: DreamHack Winter 2013. In the decisive match, Ninjas in Pajamas and Fnatic met again. The confrontation between these teams had already become an absolute disaster at that time.

The desire of Richard Xizt Landström's team to take revenge on Fnatic for the finals of DreamHack Winter 2013 turned out to be stronger than the desire of Markus pronax Walsten's team to lift the Major trophy over their heads for the second time. The emotions of this confrontation are challenging to convey in words, so we suggest you review and evaluate his recording.

DreamHack Winter 2014

First, DreamHack Winter 2014 was remembered for the scandal with VAC bans. Before the start of the tournament, Titan and Epsilon were disqualified because the members of these teams, Hovik KQLY Tovmasyan and Gordon Sf Zhiry, received VAC-bans. Their slots at the Major were outplayed in a small competition, and Flipsid3 Tactics and Copenhagen Wolves became new participants.

During the final, NiP, who came to defend the title of the Major champion, and Team LDLC met. Both teams poured out an incredible amount of emotions, which made the match unforgettable. Despite the opponent's champion status, the French from LDLC surprised the opponent with their playing style and won the trophy.

ESL One Katowice 2015

NiP and Fnatic once again played in the decisive ESL One Katowice 2015 match. This was the third Swedish derby in the CS:GO Major finals, and for NiP, it was the fifth in a row. The teams demonstrated total concentration on every map and round and tried to get the most out of every situation. However, this time luck smiled on the Fnatic team, who won the title of the Major champion for the second time in their history and became the first club in the shooter's history with this achievement.

ELEAGUE Major Atlanta 2017

One of the most exciting battles in the history of CS:GO took place between Virtus.pro and Astralis in the final of the major in Atlanta. Both teams were at the peak of their playing form, and the match lasted for three maps. In short, it was an incredible Counter-Strike.

Janusz Snax Pogozelski showed himself especially brightly: he is a fascinating player to watch when he is in his best form. Despite the defeat in the final, his performance was one of the best on the server. The whole game, where Snax shows insidiousness and ingenuity, instantly becomes a classic.

The final moment of the match was especially memorable. The last map was Train, a classic for Polish veterans. Virtus.pro confidently led with a score of 13:7 for CT, considered an advantage on the Train. However, in the 21st round, clutch-master Andreas Xyp9x Hoyslet made a precise headshot from Tec-9, and Astralis was able to stop Virtus.pro's winning streak. But with a score of 13:8, which usually means a victory for an organized team like VP on Train, we witnessed the players' incredible perseverance and grit.

PGL Major Stockholm 2021

The final of the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 between Natus Vincere and G2 Esports was held under the auspices of the rivalry of Oleksandr s1mple Kostylev and Nikola NiKo Kovac. Both athletes were in perfect game shape and eager to win the tournament.

In general, the match was evenly matched, but only NiKo was on the server, while the whole NAVI team was there. It played a vital role in the decisive moment, and "born to win" won the long-awaited trophy. This match gave many incredible highlights, and the players themselves showed an incredible amount of emotions.

PGL Major Krakow 2017

Gambit Esports and Immortals met in the final of PGL Major Antwerp 2022. The confrontation began with the pick of the Brazilian team Cobblestone, which ended with the defeat of Daniil Zeus Teslenko's team. After the first map, it seemed that this final would be one of the most boring in the history of CS:GO Majors, but Gambit wasn't agreed.

The following two maps were very tight. However, the opponent had almost no chance when Gambit seized the advantage on the map. Thus, Gambit became the first Eastern European team to deal with a Major.

ELEAGUE Major Boston 2018

The Boston Major final was unpredictable and emotional. Cloud9, a North American team, had a chance to win a Major for the first time. The stands filled with fans created an atmosphere of tension and excitement, ideal for this event.

C9 was considered an outsider, but a good performance was expected from them in the final. The meeting with FaZe was the only obstacle to the historic victory of the North American team at the major. FaZe won the first map with a slight advantage of 16:14, which indicated an exciting continuation of the series. On the second map, Overpass, C9 defended brilliantly and went into the second half with a score of 12:3. Everyone was already waiting for the decisive Inferno, where memorable meetings took place more than once. C9 finished the second map without any problems, and the dream came true - the third map was inevitable.

The game on Inferno was intense and full of bright moments. The teams brought the confrontation to the second overtime, and the rounds were so fierce that it was impossible to tear yourself away from the screen. Every round won by Cloud9 made the stands get louder and louder. In the pivotal moment, Tyler Skadoodle Latham fired a sniper rifle shot to kill Ladislav GuardiaN Kovac and lead his team to victory. It was the loudest and the most epic finish to the tournament in CS:GO history.

The professional scene of Counter-Strike continues to develop, and after the game transitions to the Source 2 engine, it will receive new momentum for further progress. However, with each subsequent major, it became increasingly more work for tournament operators to surprise the athletes and the fans.
