Into The Breach left esports — Club’s CEO embezzled around $750,000

The British esports organization Into the Breach announced its closure due to financial instability caused by the actions of its CEO. According to ITB, the CEO embezzled company money for personal use, leading to the inability to continue esports operations.

CEO Admitted Guilt: Over $700,000 Stolen

The CEO personally confessed to secretly embezzling about £600,000 (~$750,000) intended for players and the team. The CEO admitted guilt and spoke about his internal struggle.

Unfortunately, I, the CEO, was acting as two people – one trying to match their efforts and another a destructive, alcoholic narcissist hellbent on self-immolation.
Sam Macedonio, CEO of ITB, commented on his behavior

Sam Macedonio, who was the CEO of the organization, publicly stated his readiness to face the consequences of his actions.

They’ll be several legal consequences of this, all of which I’ll accept and face. People will be made as whole as possible with what funds are available. This’ll be managed outside my influence.
Sam Macedonio, CEO of ITB commented on the readiness for legal consequences

ITB End After Success at BLAST Paris Major

In 2023, ITB achieved great success by reaching the quarterfinals of the BLAST Paris Major 2023. However, just over a year later, the organization completely ceased operations due to financial difficulties. This situation became an unexpected and tragic end to the team's history.

What I did was pay the players from all sources, which amounted to around $241,071 per player. Just want to be clear, the Paris guys did get paid, prize-pool, salary and transfer fees. Doesn't make anything right, however.
Sam Macedonio, ITB CEO, commented on the sticker payments
