Rare Atom secure a historic ticket to the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024

Chinese team Rare Atom has written a new chapter in history by securing their first ever ticket to the Counter-Strike Major. The team defeated TALON in the top bracket of the Asian RMR with a confident 2-0 score, securing a place at the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024. This success is especially significant for Rare Atom, as the tournament will be held on their home turf in Shanghai, which further motivates the team to achieve a high result in front of their home audience.

The path to victory: Vertigo and Inferno for Rare Atom

Rare Atom's victory over TALON consisted of two cards: Vertigo and Inferno, both of which ended with a score of 13-8 in favor of the Chinese team. On Vertigo, Rare Atom took the lead immediately, demonstrating teamwork and individual skill. Yonghao “ChildKing” Peng, who was one of the key players, led a successful attack in the first half and an effective defense in the second half, giving the team the advantage to take the map.

At Inferno, the team showed a consistent performance, maintaining pace and control throughout the match. The MVP of the match, Andrew “Kaze” Khong, stood out for his accuracy and excellent work, scoring a rating of 7.2. His teammates maintained a high level of play, and even TALON's attempts to level the score after several winning rounds could not change the outcome - Rare Atom confidently finished the match and secured a place at the Major.

TALON's next steps in the lower grid

TALON will now continue to fight in the lower bracket, where their next opponent will be another Chinese team - Lynn Vision. In case of victory, TALON will have a chance to play for the last ticket to the Major, where potential rivals could be FlyQuest or DRILLAS, who are also aiming for the last chance to qualify.
