Officially: Premier will become part of Valorant Champions Tour starting next season.

Riot Games released a video on the official Valorant YouTube channel, where the Game Director of Valorant, Andy Ho, and the Global Head of Esports, Leo Faria, revealed some details and announced that Premier will be part of the Valorant Champions Tour from the next season.

The Premier mode has passed all tests and will officially launch with the second act of the seventh episode, specifically on August 29th. The mode will become an integral part of Valorant and will no longer disappear from the game. One of the main changes is the addition of five divisions, four of which will have 5 levels. This system will balance matches so that teams of equal level play against each other and can move up to the next division.

Five new divisions:

  • Open (1-5)
  • Intermediate (1-5)
  • Advanced (1-5)
  • Elite (1-5)
  • Contender

What is Premier?

Premier is an in-game mode where players can create or join a team of seven players. The team will be assigned a division based on the average MMR of the top five players and will play two games a week, each week on one map. The best teams of their division proceed to the playoff stage to compete for the title of the best team in their division and move up a level to get a chance to compete in Challengers.

The future of Premier mode

The Premier mode will become part of the Valorant Champions Tour and will be a place for tier-3 level teams and below, where they can compete for slots in Challengers. Previously, to participate in the open qualifiers for Challengers, players needed to have a rank not lower than Immortal. With the introduction of the Premier mode, a team must have the Contender division to participate in the qualifiers.

In the second quarter of 2024, the first tournaments will take place in each region, where the two worst teams of Challengers will compete with the best teams of the Premier mode for two slots in the league. Riot Games hope that the number of slots will increase over time to boost competition and motivation for teams.
