MOUZ vs G2 match analysis. Group stage opening series of BLAST Premier: World Final 2023

MOUZ vs G2 match analysis. Group stage opening series of BLAST Premier: World Final 2023

On December 13, the group stage matches of the BLAST Premier: World Final 2023, with a prize pool of over $1 million, will kick off. One of these matches is between G2 and MOUZ in Group B. Bo3.gg shares its analysis of the upcoming clash between the European clubs.

Team Form

Both teams have recently lost important riflers, whose contributions to victories are hard to overestimate: frozen left for FaZe, while jks has not yet moved elsewhere and is currently on the bench. A plus for G2 is that they have already tested their updated lineup with nexa at the CCT Online Finals 5, though finishing 5th-6th in the online tournament is more a reason for rigorous training rather than pride.

MOUZ, in turn, turned to Brollan as a stand-in. Compared to the Slovakian player, this is a downgrade, but not as significant as G2's with two captains.

Map Pool

In the current map pool configuration, MOUZ has a significant advantage, and out of all five possible maps, G2 has a noticeable edge only on Ancient. Even on Inferno, signature for HooXi and his team, difficulties may arise, as it is also a signature map for MOUZ.

Conclusions

This matchup will be a test to see whose player loss has had a greater impact on the team. Both jks and frozen were real pillars in their lineups. While we've already seen the new G2 at CCT Online Finals 5, with noticeable performance drops, MOUZ’s performance with the replacement is yet to be seen. Considering the map situation, it is MOUZ who seem to have a higher probability of victory.
