m0NESY wins MVP of BLAST Premier: World Final 2024

G2’s star AWPer, Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, has claimed yet another MVP title, this time for his outstanding performance at the BLAST Premier: World Final 2024. G2 dominated the grand final with a 3:0 sweep over Spirit, securing their third major title of the year. This year has been nothing short of stellar for G2, who previously won IEM Dallas and the BLAST Premier: Fall Final and reached the final of the Esports World Cup. With this victory, G2 takes home a grand prize of $500,000, while Spirit secures $250,000 for their runner-up finish.

m0NESY’s Stellar Performance

Throughout the event, m0NESY showcased his skill and consistency, proving instrumental in G2’s success. His stats were remarkable, averaging 0.9 kills per round with an impressive 87 average damage per round (ADR). These stats resulted in a top-tier overall rating of 7.2, highlighting his influence in G2’s clean run to the championship.

His performance truly stood out in the grand final, where he dominated on every map against Spirit. While he had a slightly slow start against Liquid in the opening match, m0NESY quickly found his rhythm. From that point on, he was unstoppable, delivering one highlight after another in every game that followed. G2 only dropped two maps throughout the entire tournament, and m0NESY’s presence was a major factor in that consistency.

This MVP award marks his third of the year, adding to his accolades from IEM Dallas and BLAST Premier: Fall Final. His consistent dominance has put him in a strong position to contend for the top player title of 2024. Here’s a closer look at his match ratings during the event:

  • vs. Liquid (group stage): 7.1 rating
  • vs. Spirit (group stage): 6.3 rating
  • vs. Vitality (semifinal): 7.8 rating
  • vs. Spirit (grand final): 7.4 rating

Exceptional Performances (EVPs)

While m0NESY took home the MVP, several other players also impressed and earned the title of Event Valuable Player (EVP) for their outstanding displays.

donk – Rating: 7.0

Spirit’s rising star, Danil "donk" Kryshkovets, was phenomenal throughout the event, especially in the group stages and the semifinal. His consistency and aggressive style helped Spirit reach the grand final. Although his final performance was below his usual standards, he remains one of the most promising young talents in the scene.

ZywOo – Rating: 6.9

Vitality’s superstar AWPer once again showcased his world-class abilities, putting up great numbers even as his team fell short. Vitality was playing with a stand-in, Audric "JACKZ" Jug, who replaced William "mezii" Merriman at this event, making it more challenging for the team to maintain their form. Nevertheless, Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut continued to shine individually, securing his place as one of the event’s standout players.

sh1ro – Rating: 6.9

Spirit’s main AWPer, Dmitriy "sh1ro" Sokolov, delivered an impressive showing. Known for his precision and calm under pressure, sh1ro was instrumental in Spirit’s run to the final. While it wasn’t enough to overcome G2 in the end, his consistent impact throughout the tournament earned him an EVP nod.

stavn – Rating: 6.9

Under the new leadership of Casper "cadiaN" Møller, Martin "stavn" Lund has been rising to the challenge, stepping up his performance. His strong showing helped Astralis reach the semifinals, where they eventually fell to Spirit. This event marks a return to form for stavn as he continues to adjust to his role within the restructured Astralis lineup.

NiKo – Rating: 6.5

G2’s rifler, Nikola "NiKo" Kovač, had an up-and-down tournament but managed to show up in the crucial moments. His performance may not have been as consistent as m0NESY’s, but his experience and ability to pull off impactful plays helped G2 secure the title. With key kills and strong rounds when it mattered most, NiKo played his part in G2’s success.

G2’s Journey to the Title

G2’s journey through the BLAST Premier: World Final 2024 was marked by resilience and skill. They took on formidable opponents, including Liquid, Spirit, and Vitality, to secure their place at the top.
