The IEM Katowice 2023 CS:GO grand final match promises to be very hot. Heroic and G2 haven't lost a single match in the tournament yet, but that will change today. We will find out who has the best chance to become the champion.
What do the map statistics say?
The main advantage of G2 is a reasonably flexible map pool and the fact that the strongest map of Heroic (Overpass) will go to the ban. G2 has a flawless win rate on Nuke and a 75% win rate on the second crown map, Inferno. However, Heroic will still be able to show resistance, at least on the second map, having crushed NAVI, OG, Complexity, and Vitality earlier. Mirage for G2 will also be challenging, as it is the second most powerful map for the Danes. The outcome of Ancient and Vertigo is less obvious: both teams usually prefer to ban these maps.
The last time the two clubs met was at the BLAST Premier Finals Fall 2022 in November 2022, and they haven't met since then. The victory then went to Heroic with a score of 2:1, and the losing map was Nuke, where G2 looked very confident.
The main trump card of G2
A comparison of team statistics confirms that the teams are equal in almost everything, but G2 still has a shooting advantage. It is not surprising, considering how recently NiKo has accelerated. If cadiaN and his wards can tactfully answer the question of how to surpass Nikola, then Heroic's victory will become more likely.
In terms of individual play, cadiaN is noticeably better than HooXi, and it can also play a role, and the captain of G2 can fall out of the game.
Everything goes towards the fact that the fans enjoy a full bo5 instead of a quick 3-0 in favor of one of the teams. We will make a bold prediction, and in today's grand final, we will bet on Heroic, who will lose on Nuke with a high probability, but on non-signature maps, they will give G2 simply too many problems.
