With the transition to Counter-Strike 2, players have often encountered issues with strafing. These manoeuvres might have been perfected in CS:GO, but due to the new mechanics and engine of CS2, the character model feels significantly different.
Many have noticed that when you perform a strafe and then counter-strafe to stop instantly, you still seem to slide for a microsecond, as if on skates or rollerblades. This issue was present at the beginning of Counter-Strike, and players invented so-called null binds to improve movement.
How has Razer addressed the problem of poor strafing?
Recently, Razer, a company known for creating gaming peripherals, released a keyboard called the “RAZER HUNTSMAN V3 PRO” which includes SNAP TAP technology.
Here’s how Razer explains their new technology:
With Snap Tap Mode, in any instance where two opposing directions are detected, it will register the last input as the priority. This means your character will no longer stop moving in the heat of battle when two opposing directional keys are pressed.
It's amazing how clean and sharp the movement is now.
Essentially, Razer will now control your strafes for you, allowing you to peek zones perfectly. However, it’s important to note that you still need to master the art of proper strafing, as you will still need to press the A and D keys.
It only activates the most recent button you press. This means that when you change direction during a strafe, it happens instantly without requiring precise timing on your part. The keyboard takes care of it all, ensuring your strafes are flawless.

🔥The so-called null binds from CS 1.6 have returned in CS 2. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to create a null bind on your PC:
1. Right-click on an empty area and create a Text Document.
2. Rename it to… pic.twitter.com/YcUBH1HPZU
However, reading the comments from players who tried the Snap Tap feature, one can conclude that this feature will not bring back the old movement from CS:GO. You’ll just lose the feeling of moving as if on skates or rollerblades.
Good job, Razer, but this is too much. This is literally a script known as a null bind. Those who play KZ know the consequences. The function removes the human factor. As far as I remember, such a thing is banned on KZ servers in CS 1.6 and in OSU.
On which keyboards is the Snap Tap feature available?
Currently, this feature is exclusively available on Razer devices, which cost $250. Additionally, beta testing is in progress on Wooting keyboards, favored by many professional gamers, particularly in Valorant.
Is there a free alternative to Snap Tap?
Yes! The so-called null binds from CS 1.6 have returned in CS 2. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to create a null bind on your PC:
- 1. Right-click on an empty area and create a Text Document.
- 2. Rename it to “autoexec.cfg”.
- 3. Move it to the game folder at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo\cfg.
- 4. Insert the following commands into the text document:
alias "checkfwd" ""alias "checkback" ""
alias "checkleft" ""
alias "checkright" ""
alias "goForward" "-forward; +forward"
alias "goBack" "-back; +back"
alias "goLeft" "-left; +left"
alias "goRight" "-right; +right"
alias "+mfwd" "-back; +forward; alias checkfwd goForward"
alias "+mback" "-forward; +back; alias checkback goBack"
alias "+mleft" "-right; +left; alias checkleft goLeft"
alias "+mright" "-left; +right; alias checkright goRight"
alias "-mfwd" "-forward; checkback; alias checkfwd"
alias "-mback" "-back; checkfwd; alias checkback"
alias "-mleft" "-left; checkright; alias checkleft"
alias "-mright" "-right; checkleft; alias checkright"
bind "w" "+mfwd"
bind "s" "+mback"
bind "a" "+mleft"
bind "d" "+mright"
- 5. Write in the launch options for Counter-Strike 2: "+exec autoexec.cfg".
That's it! Your movement will now be cleaner and better. We can only hope that Valve will soon restore the movement from CS:GO, and all this will be a bad dream.
Is it prohibited to play with Snap Tap or a null bind on FACEIT or other platforms?
A couple of pro players have already used this feature in the EWC. FACEIT has also officially permitted its use.
Null binds are currently allowed on FACEIT, yeah
