HooXi - "I think it's become a trend to hate me sometimes"

G2 Esports recently said goodbye to their captain Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen, ending his nearly two-year career with the team. Despite helping G2 win major titles such as IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne in 2023, HooXi has been an integral part of the team's success. He has faced criticism due to erratic individual and team results. In an interview for HLTV, he shared his stay in G2 and what lies ahead.

Talks about HooXi's departure started after G2 won the IEM Dallas 2024, where they played with Jake"Stewie2K" Yip instead of HooXi, which led to speculation about the need for a new leader. Which could be NiKo, as he was the captain at IEM Dallas 2024.

HooXi expressed mixed feelings about his departure, mentioning disappointment but also relief.

I had a faint hope of staying, especially after the decision dragged on for a long time
he said

The announcement followed the signing of G2's Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa and Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski which strengthened the team's already strong roster.

When discussing his replacement, HooXi recognized Snax's experience, but noted the challenges ahead due to role adjustments. He also shared his thoughts on the criticism he faced, admitting that while some of it was fair, he felt he was treated unfairly.

It became a trend to hate me sometimes
he noted
I don't regret anything because I gave 100% for two years
these were the words with which he assessed his time in G2, HooXi
I still have so much to prove
he concluded, looking forward to new opportunities in the competitive Counter-Strike scene

As for his future, HooXi is open to any offers and is ready to strengthen any team. According to analyst Pimp, HooXi will strengthen the lineup of Team Liquid, which needs structure, because they have enough shooting. In turn, insider harumi shared that HooXi may join Fnatic.
