The match mirrored the first semifinal of the tournament, with G2 winning this time 2-0 in maps to advance to the semifinals. The first map was Dust 2, chosen by G2, but despite this, they started off struggling, trailing 4-1 at the beginning. However, they managed to regroup and finished the game with a winning score of 13-8, giving up just one round in defense.
The second map on Nuke, chosen by FaZe, was less interesting than the first, where G2 demonstrated an excellent performance, taking 10 rounds in defense, eventually winning with a score of 13-2 to advance to the semifinals. It should be added that NiKo is currently the captain, but this does not prevent him from displaying an incredible game, where he finished the map on Nuke with a K/D statistic of 18-4, having a 3-0 advantage in opening duels. In the post-match interview, Stewie2k described his time at G2 like this:
Working with this trio, I think they have something special. I hope that after this event, when they return to the starting lineup, they can bring this energy with them, remember what was good for them, and apply it in their game. I want to see their success. I like NiKo; we've played against each other for so long, we know each other personally, and, as I said, he's the best rifler in the game. The next three players before him are all snipers, so for me, he is the best player in the game, and given his merits, he definitely deserves a Major, and I want to see him succeed.
The next match for G2 at the tournament will be against 9z, who also sensationally advanced to the semifinals of a major tournament by defeating MOUZ, Liquid, and Vitality. The winner of this pair will play in the grand final of the tournament against the winner of the Spirit/Vitality pair, with the grand final winner receiving $100,000 and the coveted slot at IEM Cologne 2024.
