G2 earns a long-awaited victory over NAVI at the BLAST Premier Fall Final

G2 were the triumphant winners of the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024, ending a multi-year losing streak to NAVI with a 3-1 victory. The win marks an important turnaround for NiKo, who had previously lost nine straight to their opponent.

Not once in recent meetings had G2 been able to handle NAVI, making this match especially significant. The years-long struggle finally ended in G2's favor and they lift the trophy.

A pivotal match at the BLAST Premier Fall Final

The final began on Ancient, the map where NAVI had defeated FaZe the day before in a hard-fought semi-final. Despite their recent success, the choice of this map was a surprise move for NAVI. G2 capitalized on the momentum, winning both pistol rounds and consolidating their advantage throughout the game. Though NAVI wasn't far behind in the rounds, G2 confidently finished the map with a score of 13:9, leading the series.

The next battle on Dust2 was expected to be a chance for NAVI to recover. They again won both pistol rounds, but G2 again proved to be stronger. Despite NAVI's B-side efforts with Snax and huNter, the G2 stars continued to dominate, winning the map 13:11 and the series 2-0.

Mirage, a map where NAVI had posted a 92% win rate over the last three months, seemed like their chance to get back into the game. In the first half G2 were in complete control of the game causing them to enter at 9-1, however NAVI were able to take two rounds and after changing sides 5 more in a row, almost equaling G2. In the end NAVI played a great game for the CT side and took this map in their favor 13:11 and the series became 2-1.

Another chance for NAVI to match the map score came on Inferno, but here again G2 dominated. G2 player malbsMd was a key figure, showing a brilliant game with 12 kills on the attacking side, giving the team a 7:5 lead by halftime. After switching sides, his continued multi kills helped G2 finish the map with a score of 13:7, finally winning the trophy.

Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov was the MVP of the final and the entire tournament. In the deciding match his impressive rating was 7.4, and at the end of the entire BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024 he reached 7.0, which emphasizes his stable and excellent play throughout the tournament.

Final Results

This win is huge for G2, as they not only broke their losing streak to NAVI, but also won the first trophy for their two rookies in Snax and malbsMd. NiKo and his team showed incredible resilience, proving that they are capable of defeating even the strongest opponents at the most prestigious tournaments. After the victory G2 will receive 200.000 dollars and an invitation to BLAST Premier: World Final 2024, while NAVI will take 85.000 dollars.
