In the Skyesports Championship 2024, Aurora and 3DMAX played in the second semi-final, with the latter winning 2-1. During the match, as well as the whole tournament, there were technical problems, the reason for which is unknown.
After a rescheduled first day in which players had power outages, internet, bad tables and computers players gave an ultimatum that if anything else bad happened they would leave the tournament of their own volition.
After that the conditions got better and the players no longer complained about them. After the group stage Aurora, who took the second place and got into the semifinals, in turn 3DMAX, in the last round of the group stage lost to Eternal Fire with the score 16-14, because of which they took the second place and got into the quarterfinals.
The first map of the semi-final was Inferno, the choice of 3DMAX, who started it very confidently finishing the half 2-10, in the second half Aurora tried to get back into the game and took 7 rounds, but it was not enough and they lost with a score of 13-9. Much of the win happened thanks to the good play of Thomas 'Djoko' Pavoni, who finished it with a statistic of 18-11.
The second card was Nuke, Aurora's choice, who, like the first game, had a bad first half, but in the second half they managed to get back into the game with a score of 4-8, winning with a score of 13-10. The third map was Anubis, where the first half ended with a close score of 6-6, but in the second half for the weak side (defense) 3DMAX managed to win with a score of 13-11.
In the final 3DMAX will play The Mongolz for the grand prize of $120,000 and a nice trophy. In addition, the winner of the tournament is likely to get a good amount of points in Valve's rankings, which influence invitations to the RMR closed qualifications.
This tournament will be their last one before the invitations are announced, so winning the tournament will be important for each of them. Aurora left the tournament in 3rd-4th place and earned $35,000.
