"We will try to take revenge on Gen.G" — Oner after T1 makes it to the Worlds 2024 semifinals

After a swift victory over Top Esports at Worlds 2024, T1 secured their place in the tournament's semifinals. Their next opponent is likely to be Gen.G, whom they have faced numerous times before.

At the press conference following the match, the team's jungler Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun shared his thoughts on the game and expectations for a possible rematch with Gen.G.

Overcoming Challenges and Progressing as a Team

The current season has been challenging for T1, especially during the summer when the team faced a downturn. However, as Oner noted, despite the setbacks during the summer split, the team found the strength to focus on their matches and improved their performance by the start of Worlds. "When we arrived at Worlds, we were in a situation where we could focus solely on the game, and it allowed us to reach a new level," Oner noted.

Tactical Moves and Preparation for the Game Against Top Esports

A key factor in the game against Top Esports was the champion selection, including Ahri and Poppy, which helped T1 control the game. Oner noted that their team has always valued Ahri highly: "We focus on building strong compositions for Ahri to give Faker more room to maneuver." The T1 jungler also emphasized that his strategy against TES jungler Tian was based on understanding the champion pool of his team. "I think it wasn’t hard to anticipate their mid-jungle duo's champions, which helped me prepare a strategy that worked," he added.

Expectations for the Match Against Gen.G

When asked about the potential match against Gen.G, Oner responded with a smile that he would prefer if neither team reached the semifinals and T1 automatically won. Nonetheless, he acknowledges that they will most likely face Gen.G and the team will put forth all efforts to take revenge. "We are confident in ourselves at big tournaments and in bo5 format matches, and this can be to our advantage," Oner added.

Fan Support and Focus on Victory

Despite recent losses to Gen.G, Oner expressed gratitude to fans for their support and promised to do their best to win the semifinals. "Many already expect us to lose to Gen.G again, but I believe that with your support we can show our best game and maybe defeat them this time," he said, addressing the fans.

T1 is confidently advancing at Worlds 2024 and eagerly awaits their next opponent, be it Gen.G or FlyQuest in the semifinals.
