Sometimes in the world of esports, a team can go through a lot of adversity and it takes a lot of heart to come back from it which is the case of T1 in 2024. It was not just a recognition of their dominance, but an acknowledgment of their tenacity and the unique year they had in 2024 when they won the ‘Game Awards’ for the title of ‘Best Esports Team’. 

A rocky road to the Worlds 2024

It was a rather uncertain start of the year for T1. After the lacklustre performance in 2023, the team wondered if it would be possible to get back to the top. Faker, the god-like player, taught the younger players such as Oner and Zeus how to play well especially when the pressure is on. By the time the Worlds 2024 was to begin, T1 was not viewed as a team that would dominate but rather as a threat that would surprise everyone. 

Reign on the World Stage 

T1’s performance at the Worlds 2024 can be said to be one of the best if not the best. Due to being placed in a challenging group, they impressed everyone by dominating the group stage defeating some of the best teams from other regions. Their strategic flexibility as well as their relentless attacks generated a lot of discussion throughout the event. . 

The grand finals were, however, where T1 wrote their names into the history books once again. Their match-up against BLG LPL team and the match can only be described as a epic. Faker quieted the rumors concerning his form in this game, which meant that he had to perform at his best. In the bot lane, Gumayusi and Keria turned out to be the most destructive players of the entire event, while Zeus was unstoppable in the top lane. T1 took the match up to game 5 where they defeated BLG 3-2 to bring home the Cup which was something that they had been trying to do for a while now. 

This is why They Deserved the Award 

Receiving the Game Awards 2024 was possible not only because they won the Worlds; it was the journey they had to go through. T1 personified the concept of tenacity; it was a message to the world that with hard work and faith, one can triumph over any challenge. 

This team and its story has inspired millions of fans around the globe and has helped bring back the belief of one of the biggest names in esports. It was not only their skills that made T1 a great team, it was their team work, their never quit attitude and their ability to change with the events that occurred. Their influence on the scene of League of Legends in 2024 was unique, and thus their win at the Game Awards was a proper celebration of their triumph.
