Sonic Racing Crossworlds, a new arcade racing title from Sega, has been officially classified in Australia, possibly signaling its upcoming launch.
The Australian Classification Board has rated the game PG for mild violence and online interactivity. Though Sega has not yet released an official launch date, the company's track record shows they tend to make those types of rating appearances halfway through their development phase. As a comparison, when the Australian Classification Board rated Sonic X Shadow Generations in April 2024, the game released in October of the same year.
Sonic Racing Crossworlds made a reveal at The Game Awards in December 2024. Details at this time are limited, but the trailer did suggest the revitalization of classic characters from multiple renditions of the Sonic universe and high-speed racing in a multiverse environment.
While there is no official confirmation of new reveals, there is speculation that additional details may be shared at Summer Game Fest 2025. This assumption is based on Sega’s previous use of the event to announce the release date for Sonic X Shadow Generations last year. This year, Sega is already confirmed as one of the 55 participants in the showcase.
With the Australian rating now public, Sonic Racing Crossworlds seems to be moving closer to release. While official information is still limited, fans should keep an eye on Summer Game Fest 2025, where Sega may potentially unveil more.
