Sega has officially confirmed that the crossover racing game Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will launch on September 25, 2025. The announcement came during Summer Game Fest 2025, alongside a new trailer featuring unexpected guest stars: Ichiban Kasuga (Like a Dragon), Joker (Persona 5), virtual pop idol Hatsune Miku, and Minecraft’s own Steve.
The new trailer revealed several high-profile guest racers joining the game:
Ichiban, Joker, and Miku will be added for free via post-launch updates. Each character will have a unique vehicle and racing style to match their personality.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds introduces new mechanics like real-time dimensional travel through “Travel Rings,” which transport racers into alternate versions of the track mid-race. Vehicles can be customized with up to six equippable gadgets that offer tactical advantages.
The game supports cross-platform multiplayer, allowing players on different systems to race together. Online races support up to 12 players, and there’s also local multiplayer. The launch version includes 24 tracks inspired by Sega and Atlus universes.
