Konami has officially announced a full-fledged remake of the original Silent Hill, developed by Bloober Team—the studio behind the highly acclaimed remake of Silent Hill 2. The announcement took place during the Konami Press Start Live showcase, where a brief teaser featuring the iconic Silent Hill logo and the game's famous soundtrack confirmed the long-awaited project.
This announcement ended months of speculation after Bloober Team revealed in February that they had signed a deal with Konami to create a game based on one of the classic franchises from the Japanese publisher. Although no gameplay or release date was shown, the use of thematic music from the original 1999 game almost certainly indicates that it is a remake of the first installment of the legendary survival horror franchise.

The Silent Hill 2 remake by Bloober Team, released in October 2024, became both a commercial and critical success—selling over two million copies and earning numerous praises for preserving the atmosphere and thoughtfully expanding the original. In light of this success, fans and analysts predicted that Konami would continue to revive the earliest games in the franchise.
The original Silent Hill, released on PlayStation in 1999, was Konami's answer to Resident Evil and quickly carved out its own identity with its thick fog, psychological horror, and tense story about Harry Mason's search for his missing daughter in the eerie town of Silent Hill. Although the game was reimagined in 2009 as Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, the current project is the first faithful remake of the original.
While details about the game are currently scarce, Konami's new focus on developing the SH series is evident. Alongside the remake of the first Silent Hill, the company is also working on Silent Hill f, Silent Hill: Townfall, and a film adaptation of Silent Hill 2.
With a dedicated fan base and high critical acclaim, the Silent Hill franchise is experiencing a full-scale revival—and one of the upcoming projects will be a reimagining of the game that started it all.
There is currently no information on the release date for Silent Hill 1 Remake, as the project is still in development and all we've received is a teaser. This may indicate only the beginning of work on the game, or the creators may not be ready to share details until a certain time, as the primary focus is on other projects.
