Nintendo recently revealed the cast for the forthcoming live-action Legend of Zelda film. Fans of the iconic video game were left guessing for months about which actors would be seen on screen. Those questions are now answered.
He will be playing Link. Something of a familiar face of the fantasy genre, Ainsworth was cast because of his youthful looks but serious dramatic talent.
Bo Bragason will be portraying Princess Zelda. With credits on major historical and fantasy pictures, Bragason will likely deliver a rich, charismatic portrayal of a woman of strength and nobility.
There is no word yet on the rest of the cast. Castings for the major characters like Ganondorf and Impa are still being carried out.
Shooting will start early 2026. Pre-production was already conducted in Japan and New Zealand. No script of the film will be a direct adaptation of a specific game, but the general themes of the franchise will be retained: adventure, good vs. evil, and searching for courage.
Its cinematographic aesthetic is described as a mix of epic fantasy such as Lord of the Rings and the appearance of Breath of the Wild.
Production begins 2026, with further casting announcements expected later this year. Fans of Legend of Zelda can expect to see the beloved storyline played out on the big screen soon.
This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/KA5XW3lwul
