Rumor: Fallout 5 has received the green light

Fallout 5 is no longer just a rumor — Bethesda Game Studios has given the project the green light. The studio has decided to delay or even cancel some other internal projects to fully concentrate on developing Fallout 5.

According to Corden, Fallout 5 has already passed internal approval stages and is now in early development. While Bethesda has not yet made any public announcements, insiders claim that the decision is made, the team is at work, and the studio has officially redirected some resources from less important projects.

Previously, the developers repeatedly stated that Fallout 5 would be the next game after The Elder Scrolls VI. However, judging by the new information, work on both games might now be progressing in parallel. Another factor that pushed the development forward was the undeniable success of Amazon’s Fallout series, which brought renewed interest in the franchise. Players have massively returned to Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, which did not go unnoticed by Bethesda.

No release dates or details have been announced yet. Fallout 5 announcements would likely happen at least towards the end of 2025, most likely at major Xbox events. According to Microsoft’s timetable, Fallout 5 would thus first release in exclusive PC and Xbox Series X|S.
