Pokémon TCG Pocket Celestial Guardians - Release Date and Early Card List

Pokémon TCG Pocket is blasting forward with another major expansion, and this time it's going cosmic. Get ready for Celestial Guardians, a full-blown Alola-themed update landing on April 30, and it’s packing heat with legendary mascots Solgaleo and Lunala front and center.

This marks the sixth expansion overall and the third major release following fan-favorites Genetic Apex and Space-Time Smackdown. But Celestial Guardians isn’t just another card dump, it’s a love letter to Pokémon Sun and Moon, bringing a tropical storm of new content for collectors and battlers alike.

What’s in the Booster Packs

Celestial Guardians will launch with two separate booster types, one themed around Solgaleo (Sun) and the other around Lunala (Moon). Each offers unique pulls, featuring iconic Alolan Pokémon, including the classic starter trio:

  • Rowlet
  • Litten
  • Popplio

Plus, keep an eye out for regional variants like Alolan Raichu and Alolan Marowak - cards that haven’t seen much spotlight since Gen 7 but are finally getting their due.

There are over 200 new cards in total, from Oricorio’s many type variations to brand-new Item and Trainer cards featuring beloved characters from the Alola region. Immersive versions of Solgaleo ex and Lunala ex have also been confirmed, with dynamic illustrations that shift when tilted—creating a screen-popping 3D effect.

Even more exciting, Celestial Guardians introduces the first-ever immersive Supporter cards, offering new strategic options and collectible visuals for Trainers looking to enhance their decks.

Day and Night Forms

In a surprising twist, Celestial Guardians introduces dual versions of the starters: daytime and nighttime forms, each with distinct stats and abilities. While we don’t know how deep this day/night mechanic goes across the full set, it’s already shaping up to shake the meta with flexible deck-building paths and some seriously cool synergy options.

Special Missions and Rayquaza ex Promo Card

To celebrate the release and the game’s half-year anniversary, Pokémon TCG Pocket is launching special solo battles and missions starting April 29, 2025, at 11:00 p.m. PDT. These events run until May 12 and reward players with Promo Pack A Series Vol. 7, which includes a chance to snag a Rayquaza ex promo card.

Even better, a full-art Rayquaza ex and other exclusive in-game items will be available by completing half-year celebration missions running until May 28. It’s the perfect time to show off your new Alolan pulls and battle in style.

Trainer Cards & Updates

Alongside the Pokémon themselves, players can look forward to new Trainer cards spotlighting Alola’s iconic characters, think Professor Kukui, Lillie, and maybe even some Team Skull mayhem. Also included are quality-of-life upgrades like a new binder cover and display board, giving collectors fresh ways to show off their shiny pulls.

Celestial Guardians follows on the heels of smaller expansions like Shining Revelry, Triumphant Light, and Mythical Island, proving that TCG Pocket’s monthly release schedule is still going strong. Despite some backlash over the underwhelming trading system, the game's momentum hasn’t slowed, especially after reports that it raked in over $500 million in less than three months.
