The next chapter in the Pokémon Legends series is officially on the horizon. Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the first mainline Pokémon game designed for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, will release on October 16, 2025, The Pokémon Company announced earlier today.

Trainers eager to explore the new adventure will have the option to play the game on both the current Nintendo Switch and the newly launched Switch 2. A special Switch 2 upgrade pack will be available for those who want to enhance their experience on Nintendo’s next-gen handheld-console hybrid.

Digital pre-orders for Pokémon Legends: Z-A will go live on June 5, coinciding with the official launch of the Nintendo Switch 2.

Pokémon Presents Incoming

Adding to the excitement, a new Pokémon Presents live stream is set for July 22, 2025. While details remain under wraps, fans can expect a showcase of the latest news and updates from the world of Pokémon. Given Z-A’s looming release date, it’s likely that the stream will include fresh gameplay footage, new features, or possibly reveal regional forms and returning mechanics.
