HoYoverse has officially introduced Ineffa, a brand new 5-star Electro character with polearm weaponry, set to debut in Genshin Impact version 5.8, slated for release on July 30, 2025. This final update of the Natlan chapter will also add a new summer event, map expansion, and the first playable character from Nod-Krai.

Ineffa marks a significant shift in Genshin Impact's gameplay and storyline. She hails from the technologically advanced yet mysterious region of Nod-Krai. Unlike Wanderer or Albedo—other artificially created characters—Ineffa was initially designed as a companion rather than a fighter, making her one of the game's most unique heroines.

Gameplay Changes and Innovations with Ineffa

In terms of gameplay, Ineffa introduces a new game mechanic—Lunar-Charged—a transformation of the Electro-Charged reaction, previously enhanced in updates with Ororon and Ifa. Unlike its predecessors, Lunar-Charged can deal critical hits and scales with all characters involved in creating the reaction, not just the one who activates it. This could potentially reshape the composition of Electro teams.

From a gameplay perspective, Ineffa boasts a simple yet effective set of abilities. Her Elemental Skill summons a totem that deals continuous Electro damage, and her Burst re-summons the totem if it's not on the battlefield. Additionally, Ineffa provides a shield, making her both a damage booster and defensive support. It is already evident that she synergizes well with characters like Ifa and Cyno, and theorists anticipate she will become a key element in top-tier teams.

Ineffa's Announcement in Genshin Impact

Ineffa was revealed through the so-called drip marketing on the official Genshin Impact subreddit, instantly creating a buzz within the community. She is the only new character in version 5.8, making her banner particularly significant ahead of the anticipated expansion into Nod-Krai in version 6.0.

Her banner is expected to launch either in Phase I (July 30) or Phase II (August 19) of this update. Alongside Ineffa, rerun banners of characters like Chasca, Mualani, or Citlali might appear, offering ample opportunities for diverse team compositions with Electro, Anemo, Hydro, and Cryo characters.
