Wargaming has launched a major new update for World of Warships, and it’s packed to the brim with fresh content for naval commanders across the seas. From immersive new game modes to fan-favorite crossovers and commemorative events, the May 2025 update is one of the most feature-rich patches in recent memory.
Headlining this update is Operation Dynamo, a historical scenario marking the 85th anniversary of the legendary Dunkirk evacuation. Players will navigate through waves of enemies using Little Ships of Dunkirk in a special Port activity, earning themed rewards like the “Braving the Fire” flag, Operation Dynamo Containers, and even the Tier VI British destroyer Gallant. A new Event Pass accompanies the mode, offering unlockables including permanent camouflages and the new “Monochrome” Enemy Destruction Effect.
Also debuting is Perilous Route, a limited-time cooperative mode where players must escort a damaged Command Ship to safety. The mission includes randomized mid-route tasks and is available for Tier VIII–IX ships (excluding submarines). This new gameplay twist challenges players to adapt and strategize under pressure.
Back by popular demand, the Azur Lane crossover event returns with more cosmetics and themed content. Expect new commanders, unique ship skins, and vibrant anime-inspired flair — a treat for both anime fans and seasoned naval captains.
The May update also sees Soviet submarines graduating from early access and becoming fully available in the tech tree. Meanwhile, shipbuilders can head to the Dockyard to begin constructing the Tier IX German Premium heavy cruiser Blücher 1939.
In addition, a new season of Ranked Battles and intense Brawls has set sail, bringing competitive edge and fresh challenges to veteran players.
Looking beyond in-game content, World of Warships will celebrate the fifth anniversary of its Longest Night of Museums event on May 18. This year’s livestream features a fascinating debate between world-renowned historian Dan Snow and AI, focusing on the evolution of WWII warships. The event also introduces the Naval Museum Atlas, an interactive platform that rewards players for virtual museum visits around the globe.
With historical tributes, fresh content drops, and cross-media collaborations, World of Warships continues to prove itself as a standout live-service game. Whether you're in it for the tactical gameplay, historical immersion, or crossover fun, this update offers something for everyone.
