Marvel Rivals Might Get a PvE Mode Featuring Kraken Battle

A long-awaited Player vs. Environment (PvE) mode is being prepared for Marvel Rivals. Although the developer has not yet confirmed this officially, dataminers and insiders have discovered evidence that the upcoming update may feature a massive boss battle similar to a Kraken.

PvE Mode Infinity Crisis Leak

Rumors suggest that the PvE mode codenamed Infinity Crisis involves cooperative gameplay where players team up to fight a giant sea monster. Information about this mode first surfaced late last year thanks to leaker X0XLeak, but new videos and datamined findings have reignited speculation about this mode.

Among the latest leaks are animations of an unknown creature resembling a Kraken, showing its idle state, attack, and death animation. Some fans believe this is just a temporary model, while others speculate it could be Monstro — the iconic Marvel comic monster associated with Luna Snow and Namor. Hints of its presence are found in in-game files of Marvel Rivals, as well as its resemblance to the Monstro Spawn ability used by Namor.

Additional datamining discovered game strings referencing "dragon eggs," "tentacles," and "death by tentacles" — all possibly linked to this potential boss battle. Among the leaked strings are:

  • "InfinityCrisis_Prepare": "PREPARE TO ATTACK",
  • "InfinityCrisis_ModeObj": "CAPTURE AND ENERGIZE THE CRYSTAL!",
  • "InfinityCrisis_FlagStatus009_TeamCapturingFlag": "YOUR TEAM IS CAPTURING THE CRYSTAL",
  • "InfinityCrisis_Obj005_StopEnemy": "STOP THE ENEMY CARRIER"
  • InfinityCrisis_FlagStatus002_FlagDrop": "THE CRYSTAL HAS DROPPED",
  • InfinityCrisis_FlagUnlockTimer": "THE CRYSTAL WILL UNLOCK IN:"

Additionally, a voice line was found in the game's files hinting at a possible Capture the Flag mode, suggesting that the PvE mode could be part of a broader revamped game system.

Community Speculations

The addition of PvE elements in Marvel Rivals would mark a significant shift from the game's current PvP format. Some players believe that this mode might become part of larger raid content, where multiple bosses need to be defeated and team objectives accomplished. Others think it will be a limited-time event, similar to the Dracula storyline in the first season: Eternal Night Falls.

Most players are thrilled about what's in store as Marvel Rivals has become a wildly successful hero shooter, outpacing Overwatch 2 and other competitors. Despite numerous leaks, NetEase has yet to make any official announcements regarding upcoming modes and updates.

Several sources claim that NetEase is actively working on the PvE mode, with some insiders even reporting intensive testing of the new mechanics. If the mode is indeed in the late stages of development, it might soon provide a new cooperative experience in Marvel Rivals, expanding gameplay beyond PvP confrontations.

For now, fans can only wait for an official announcement. In the meantime, the number of leaks continues to grow, fueling interest in potentially major updates in 2025.
