Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) is preparing for the largest LAN tournament in the history of the game - ALGS Open 2025, which will take place on May 1-4 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, USA. This will be the first LAN tournament of the year, bringing together 160 teams from all over the world to compete for a prize pool of $1 000 000.

The tournament will automatically invite 120 teams from the Pro League, which compete in the strongest ALGS regional leagues. Another 40 teams will be selected as part of the Preseason Qualifiers, which end on March 18.

The organizers promise that the ALGS Open 2025 will be the main test before the Midseason Playoffs, as the top five teams in this tournament will receive direct slots to this prestigious championship. In addition, the teams' performances at the ALGS Open will determine the number of quotas for each region for the Midseason Playoffs.

Invited teams and selection format

Despite the fact that all the participants of the tournament have not yet been determined, we already know the Pro League teams that have confirmed their participation. The tournament will bring together the strongest representatives of all regions, including

• North America (Americas): among the participants are such powerful teams as Team Falcons, Virtus.pro, TSM, Cloud9, FURIA, Complexity, 100 Thieves, and NRG.
• Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA): Alliance, FaZe Clan, NIP, GoNext, Zero Tenacity, Cybercats, and Orgless and Hungry.
• APAC North: Crazy Raccoon, Fnatic, Team Potato, Reignite, SBI Esports.
• APAC South: VK Gaming, Dreamfire, Team Burger, LightningUnicorn, Frozen Cat.

The full list of teams will be announced after the end of the Preseason Qualifiers.

Tournament format and new rules

ALGS organizers decided to make the tournament as competitive as possible. ALGS Open 2025 will be held in Double Elimination Bracket format, and the final will be held in Match-Point Finals format. This means that a team can win the championship only after reaching a certain number of points and winning the final match.

This year, players will experience an innovation - legend bans. This radical update will diversify the purpose of the tournament and increase the importance of strategic preparation.

1. In the first match of the series, all legends will be available.
2. After each match, the most popular legend will be banned for the rest of the series.
3. If the entire category of legends disappears due to bans (for example, all Scouts or Stormtroopers), the one that was banned first will be returned to the game.

Also, the tournament card pool will expand, as Broken Moon has been added to it. This will change the purpose of the game and allow teams to try out new strategies.

Tournament schedule

ALGS Open 2025 will last for four days:

• May 1: First round of Winners and Losers Bracket
• May 2: Continuation of Winners and Lower Bracket matches
• May 3: Winners Bracket finals and last chance in the Lower Bracket
• May 4: Grand Final in Match Point format

This tournament will be the main event of the first half of the season, and its winners will receive not only cash prizes but also key slots in the Midseason Playoffs.
