This is a very clever and entertaining way to promote the new film while also giving us the opportunity to see some content of Karl Urban's version of Cage. A Fictional Film With Real Impact

“Uncaged Fury” is like an action film from the VHS period that's been tucked away and forgotten, featuring gripping narrations, extravagant stunts, and low-budget yet stylistic heroism. Urban as Johnny Cage screams out “Showtime” after performing a physics-bending leap to avoid a rocket-propelled grenade and tackling foes in a warehouse fight.

The teaser also features fictional posters for Cage’s supposed past blockbusters, including:

  • Cool Hand Cage
  • Hard to Cage
  • Rebel Without a Cage
  • Uncaged Fury

As suggested in the chapter titles, New Line Cinema is the sole producer of the two Mortal Kombat films from the 1990s and the rebooting franchise. This detail, alongside the studio branding included in the faux trailer, serves as a testament to the precision with which the trailer was constructed.

A Tribute to 90s Action Cinema

“Uncaged Fury” evokes the 1990s action icons of Jean-Claude Van Damme, Steven Seagal, and even Michael Dudikoff. From denim-wearing foes to laughably unrealistic blasts, the nostalgia fueled elements of the teaser remind us of the cult classic action flicks that shaped the home video era.
