HoYoverse is reportedly working on its most ambitious Genshin Impact expansion yet, new user-generated content (UGC) game mode titled Miliastra, or Thousand Stars. According to a reliable leaker, this upcoming mode will allow players to craft custom characters, design their own gameplay experiences, and join public lobbies with up to 20 people, marking a massive leap in player-driven creativity for the game.
Unlike past additions such as Genius Invokation TCG or the Serenitea Pot housing system, Miliastra will be a standalone sandbox experience, launched separately from the main Genshin Impact client. Despite this, the new mode will use existing Genshin assets, meaning it won’t significantly increase the game’s storage footprint.
Miliastra’s scope is huge. It gives players access to robust creative tools to build everything from parkour challenges to full-blown role-playing experiences. Think level editors, custom enemy encounters, or even lore-inspired quests, all user-made. Early footage suggests that the hub world draws visual inspiration from Simulanka, the vibrant setting of Version 4.8’s summer event.
Perhaps the most thrilling aspect is being able to create and select the skin tone, facial features, and clothing of your Genshin character. Only female avatars are accessible in the ongoing beta testing, but we anticipate male avatars will be available at launch. Rather than characters, Miliastra plans to implement its proprietary gacha system which centers around cosmetics, permitting users to wish for various outfits and accessories. Another feature that is anticipated is the Battle Pass associated with the mode.
Miliastra will support public lobbies of up to 20 players, or private ones with 12, further reinforcing the social aspect of the game. However, not everything is sunshine in Teyvat. Some fans are concerned about potential monetization practices, as leaks suggest the presence of Primogem-exclusive cosmetics, separate from the sandbox’s own in-game currency.
Additionally, Miliastra is rumored to include a stamina system similar to Resin, though with a higher cap. This could limit how much players can participate in activities at a time.
Miliastra is said to be in its final development stage, and although no official release date has been given, further information is anticipated as beta testing moves forward. If the leaks are correct, then Genshin Impact is poised to unleash one of the most comprehensive sandbox offerings ever included in a gacha-based RPG.
