EA has announced a new installment in the Battlefield series, set to release in 2025. Vince Zampella, the head of Respawn Entertainment, shared some details about the upcoming game.
Developers plan to return to the concept of "modern war setting", which once brought the franchise great success and fan love. Here's what Vince Zampella said about it:
"I mean, if you look back to the peak or the pinnacle of Battlefield, it's that Battlefield 3… Battlefield 4 era where everything was modern. And I think we have to get back to the core of what Battlefield is and do that amazingly well, and then we'll see where it goes from there. But I think for me, it's that peak of Battlefield-ness is in that Battlefield 3 and 4 days. So I think it's nostalgic for players, for me, for the teams even. Those are kind of the heyday…although I would say 1942 also."
The studio also plans to correct and avoid the mistakes of the latest games in the series, particularly Battlefield 2042 with its large 128-player maps, which did not gain popularity. Instead, they will focus on a 64-player mode that offers a more concentrated gameplay experience.

Additionally, the developers want to bring back old and introduce some new gameplay elements in Battlefield 2025, such as the class system, various events, and natural disasters that will affect gameplay and make it more exciting. The maps will be smaller but feature more detailed environments to replace the empty spaces.
The exact release date of the game is unknown, except that Battlefield is scheduled for 2025.
