In the upcoming Fortnite v33.20 update, players will have the ability to equip tools in the game. This will allow game fans to use guitars, basses, keytars, microphones, and drum sticks in the pickaxe and Back Bling slots in the Battle Royale mode.

The changes are a response to numerous fan requests that began to emerge following the “Fortnite Festival” update in December 2023. At that time, guitars were added as cosmetic items, but their use was limited to the Jam Tracks mode, discouraging players from purchasing these items.

Players have received the news with great enthusiasm, which can be seen from their reactions on social media. One user on Twitter wrote: "Great idea — finally giving instruments a real purpose that matches their price." On Reddit, this update was also discussed, with one comment stating: "Finally, instruments are worth buying."

The update has also sparked a new wave of interest in previous collaborations, including Cyberpunk 2077 with Johnny Silverhand's guitar, which can now be used as a pickaxe. One Reddit user noted: "Finally! Spider-Punk will be much cooler when his guitar becomes a pickaxe or backpack."

However, some players are concerned that the feature will apply only to "certain" instruments. This could be due to technical compatibility aspects, as a similar phased approach was used for other updates, such as LEGO and Kicks styles.
