On April 8th, the BAFTA Games Awards 2025 ceremony took place, where this year's winners in various categories of the video game industry were announced, selecting the best representatives in each nomination.
Comedian Phil Wang hosted the ceremony, and games released between November 25, 2023, and November 15, 2024, were eligible for participation. This year, BAFTA also introduced new rules: remakes were only allowed in technical nominations, and the category "New Intellectual Property" was separated from "Debut Game."

Astro Bot not only won the title of "Best Game" but also triumphed in the categories of "Animation," "Audio Achievement," "Family Game," and "Game Design," cementing its status as the game with the most awards and "Game of the Year." Overall, the game had 12 nominations and won 5 awards, becoming the undisputed winner of the evening.
Despite Astro Bot's dominance, other games also received recognition. The intense cooperative shooter Helldivers 2 by Arrowhead Game Studios won in the categories of "Multiplayer" and "Music." The indie hit Balatro by LocalThunk received the "Debut Game" award, while the British humorous game Thank Goodness You’re Here! by Coal Supper was recognized as the "Best British Game."
BAFTA also honored projects that push the boundaries of what's possible in gaming. Tales of Kenzera: Zau, an emotional debut from Surgent Studios and actor-developer Abubakar Salim, won the "Game Beyond Entertainment" award for its deep narrative and cultural significance.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II by Ninja Theory was honored for "Technical Achievement," while Neva by Nomada Studio won in the "Artistic Achievement" category for its distinctive visual presentation. Still Wakes the Deep, an atmospheric horror from The Chinese Room, received the title of "Best New Intellectual Property" and two leading acting awards—Alec Newman for "Leading Role" and Karen Dunbar for "Supporting Role."
Vampire Survivors by Poncle won in the "Evolving Game" category, recognized for its long-term success and active player engagement, while Metaphor: ReFantazio by ATLUS was awarded best in the "Narrative" category for its complex and refined story.
