Astro Bot emerged as the star at the BAFTA Games Awards 2025, securing five major awards, including the prestigious title of "Best Game of the Year," on an evening dedicated to the most outstanding achievements in the world of video games.

The 3D platformer, developed by Team Asobi to mark the 30th anniversary of PlayStation, topped the list of winners on Tuesday evening at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall, surpassing strong competitors such as Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, which had the most nominations, and the psychological thriller Still Wakes the Deep.

Among other victories for Astro Bot were awards for game design, animation, audio achievement, and best family game, solidifying a successful year for the Japanese studio. Team Asobi President Nicolas Doucet noted that the game's universal appeal was ensured by a multinational team.
"We do a lot of jokes in the game, but the joke has a different meaning depending on where you are in the world. So it's really, really nice to go around and ask everyone 'is that joke fine in your country?' And then together we come to a kind of universal playfulness", he said in an interview with Sky News.

The ceremony was hosted for the second consecutive year by comedian Phil Wang. The evening highlighted the industry's rapid growth and its creative evolution. Recently, BAFTA, along with Digital Cinema Media, launched a national cinema advertising campaign to promote the art of storytelling in video games. Last year, the top award was won by Baldur’s Gate 3.
