Player Reviews Leak About Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Player's Experience with a Copy of the Game

A player who spent about 10-11 hours on Assassin’s Creed Shadows on a base PS5 version in quality mode shared their impressions. This is an extremely old build of the game, where you can't even activate deluxe outfit codes that came with the disc. Also, it does not include the fixes that appeared after the release delay.

According to the player, all main and side missions are "very interesting." They completed 8 main missions and noted that the game starts with Yasuke. However, there is no mention yet of his wife, who, according to previous reports from Jonathan and Tom Henderson, was supposed to die on a ship to Japan.

After the introductory mission for Yasuke, the player switches to Naoe, and after 9 hours of gameplay, there has not yet been an opportunity to return to Yasuke. Perhaps these two main characters have yet to unite.

The player noted a large number of captured movements in cutscenes. Important scenes are "very good, almost like in movies," but sometimes NPCs have issues with lip-syncing during dialogues.

The title screen appears after 2 hours of gameplay, followed by a time jump. After the prologue, Naoe plans to kill Nobunaga to avenge her father's death, joining forces with Akechi Mitsuhide. Akechi lies to Naoe that Nobunaga killed her family, and the player has the choice to believe him or not. If they choose to believe, Akechi sends the player on a mission to assassinate Nobunaga, planning to capture his army. However, it is actually he and his clan, Shinbakufu, who destroyed Naoe's family and all the residents of Iga.

Regarding Yasuke, the player notes that all characters call him "the black man," which corresponds to historical realities, as the Japanese at that time had not seen black people. When Yasuke wears full battle armor, enemies feel fear, similar to how it was with Jin Sakai in Ghost of Tsushima when he activates Ghost Stance.

A meditation mini-game unlocks memory cutscenes. According to the player, the game met their expectations and is reminiscent of Ghost of Tsushima with elements of Assassin’s Creed, but with a better stealth system. The only downside is that the dodging and parrying system is too slow.

The game is well-polished: in 10-11 hours, the player did not encounter any serious bugs or crashes, except for one cutscene where a character walked through a wall.

The game lacks hairstyle customization like in Valhalla, but features a transmog system for weapons and clothing. The game's atmosphere reminded them of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, and personally, for them, it’s the best game in the series since Black Flag.

There are 55 trophies on PSN, one of which involves visiting all the cities on the map.

The player also notes that Assassin’s Creed Shadows evokes a sense of nostalgia with its gameplay, immersion in history, and attention to detail, making it one of the best projects in the series in recent years. They advise fans of the series to pay attention to this game, especially those who value the combination of stealth and cinematic storytelling.
