Where to Find Nibbles the Putrid Rat in V Rising

In V Rising, you'll encounter numerous bosses along your journey. However, not all of them are straightforward, as some require you to seek them out, which can be challenging, while others cannot be found because they have unique summoning techniques—like Nibbles the Putrid Rat. If you're having trouble summoning this boss, this guide will cover everything you need to know about how to summon Nibbles the Putrid Rat in V Rising.

Who is Nibbles the Putrid Rat

Nibbles is an ugly, plague-infested rat that serves as a boss. However, unlike most other bosses, he doesn't naturally appear in any zone—you have to summon him yourself.

Nibbles the Putrid Rat location

To summon Nibbles the Putrid Rat, players need to construct a special structure in their castle. Although he isn't the strongest enemy in the game, Nibbles can quickly impose a challenging fight on unprepared players—thanks to his minions and poisonous AoE attacks. Defeating this rat rewards you with the Rat Form, allowing you to move unnoticed.

How to Build the Vermin Nest

To start the process of summoning Nibbles, you first need to build a Vermin Nest. This structure can be created early in the game under the Refinement section in the build menu. You'll need basic resources:

  • 360 Stone
  • 120 Bones

Once the Vermin Nest is placed in your castle, it becomes a platform for summoning rats, including Nibbles.

How to Unlock Nibbles

However, building the Vermin Nest alone is not enough. Summoning V Rising Nibbles the Putrid Rat becomes available after reaching a certain progress stage. After this, you'll need specific ingredients, namely:

Resource
Where to Find
Unsullied Heart
Dropped by stronger human enemies or mini-bosses. You often find them by clearing bandit camps or killing other V Blood carriers.
Grave Dust
Can be obtained by grinding Bones or destroying undead creatures like ghouls, or crafted in a Grinder from bones if you have the recipe.
Fish Bone
Drops as regular loot from enemies, chests, or can be extracted from fish using the Devourer.
Twilight Snapper
Can be caught while fishing in certain waters using a Fishing Pole—an instrument unlocked after defeating Rufus the Foreman and building a Woodworking Bench.

(Depending on settings and difficulty level, the quantity and type of required resources may vary.)

Once you've gathered all the necessary materials, place them in the Vermin Nest and select V Rising Rat boss in the crafting menu. Be cautious not to add extra materials, or you'll have to deal with waves of enemy rats you didn't plan to summon. After a while, V Rising Nibbles Rat will appear, and you can engage in battle with him.

How to beat Nibbles the Putrid Rat

The fight with this boss itself isn't too difficult—especially if you're prepared beforehand. We recommend having at least level 30 gear. The boss is an aggressive opponent with several unpleasant abilities: he summons small rats that attack in swarms and uses poisonous AoE attacks that limit your movement.

Quick reflexes and the ability to deal AoE damage will be very helpful here. If your skill set includes crowd control or ice spells—like Cold Snap—you can freeze the small rats and buy time to fight the main boss or eliminate them.

Since the battle takes place on your base's territory, you have several advantages: you can heal, reposition, or even enlist the help of servants if you have them.

Reward for Defeating Nibbles

After defeating Nibbles, you'll receive the Rat Form V Rising. This ability allows you to transform into a small rat, making you nearly invisible to enemies—unless you get too close to them.

In combat, this form won't help, but it's extremely useful for stealthy movement and avoiding enemies or unwanted encounters. It will be especially handy in Silverlight Hills and other high-level regions where it's better to bypass threats than engage in battle.
