Introduced early on in the tutorial with Skylar, the SPECS system is an important mechanic of the game. It plays a major part in achieving the game’s ending, unlocking dialogues and acquiring Candies.
In Date Everything, this dating simulator allows you the experience of dating your everyday household objects. You interact with them, the Dateables, to progress through each of their storylines to unlock different endings. Throughout the game, you will constantly be earning and using SPECS points. What are SPECS points and how does it work?
SPECS points are Date Everything’s in-game reward that can be used to progress the game’s storyline and unlock specific interactions. The SPECS system consists of five different attributes; Smarts, Poise, Empathy, Charm and Sass.
Each attribute represents a personality that you can acquire when interacting with Dateables. There are levels in each attribute that you reach when you have accrued a certain amount of points. You start with 0 points in each one, which makes you a bland character by default. The game describes the personality levels as such:
Smarts
Level Title | Points | Description |
Naive | 0 | You are the opposite of smart, and you're not smart enough to know what that is |
Keen | 5 | They'd have to get up before lunchtime to catch you out |
Whiz Kid | 20 | You're the one your parents go to when the computer's acting funny |
Brainy | 40 | No fridge door can bear the weight of your school grades |
The All-manac | 100 | A mind immeasurably superior to our own, we pray you never regard this Earth with envious eyes and slowly, surely, draw your plans against us |
Poise
Level Title | Points | Description |
Bumbling | 0 | You're so clumsy you drop things other people are holding |
Unruffled | 5 | It's like watching a baby deer learn to walk, only with less dignity |
Stoic | 20 | You're pretty okay at that game with the metal hoop and the buzzing noodle |
Coolheaded | 40 | Your icy visage can turn a poker night into a payday |
Human Cucumber | 100 | Unflinching, resolute, with a heart of steel, every organ in your body could rupture right now and you'd just walk it off |
Empathy
Level Title | Points | Description |
Aloof | 0 | You regularly need to be reminded what "people" are |
Sensitive | 5 | You've been caught red-handed showing feeling of an almost human nature |
Perceptive | 20 | You now know why they cry, but it is something you can never do |
Compassionate | 40 | Happy? Sad? Child's play. You now know the difference between Remorse and Contrition |
Seer of Souls | 100 | You no longer need any human present to have conversations with them... as you know exactly what they'd say (a most ironic loneliness |
Charm
Level Title | Points | Description |
Dull | 0 | Your parents love you, they just don't "like" you very much |
Appealing | 5 | "Appealing" might be stretching it, but at least you're no longer "appalling" |
Enchanting | 20 | It is reported that people like being around you. Now you simply must find some people to test that |
Alluring | 40 | Some bards would give their lutes for your Charisma rolls |
Pizzazzster | 100 | Captivating, fascinating, bewitching |
Sass
Level Title | Points | Description |
Humorless | 0 | You'd get kicked out of a library for being too boring |
Playful | 5 | You don't quite "get" humor yet, but you can confidently say it was funny when the man's pants fell down |
Droll | 20 | No amateur wordsmith, even if they've heard your jokes they still love how you tell 'em |
Witty | 40 | Congratulations, you're funnier than 75% of these attribute descriptions! |
Hysterical | 60 | Your remarks have revolutionized the topiary industry since they've made shears obsolete |
Butt Guster | 80 | You're so funny it should be taken seriously, for when the world laughs with you it may laugh itself to death |
Obtaining Candies
By interacting with Keith the Skeleton Key after opening the attic door, he will then assess your SPECS points to determine whether you qualify for a Candy. Getting it requires you to have about 40-50 SPECS points in an attribute.
A Candy is a limited, rare item that you can use to undo any Dateable’s Hate Ending- in case you accidentally made someone Hate you and want to reverse it. There are only 5 Candies available in the game: Smarts Candy, Poise Candy, Empathy Candy, Charm Candy and Sass Candy.
Unlocking Dialogues
Once in a while, you will encounter a unique dialogue that is unlockable through having a certain amount of SPECS points of a specific attribute. These dialogues lead to unique interactions, Collectables or even a guaranteed route to a Love Ending.
For example, your final rap battle against Jean-Loo the Toilet involves a lot of dialogues that are unlockable with SPECS points. The most common Love route for him requires you to choose one of those responses to achieve Jean-Loo’s Love Ending.
However, according to the game, players are able to achieve any Endings regardless of the amount of SPECS points they have.
Dateables’ Realization Recipe
To Realize Dateables at the end of their storylines, you will need to use their Realization Recipe which entails the specific amount of SPECS points that you need to have in every attribute. This means that you will need SPECS points to bring them to life and end their storyline.
One of the only ways to earn SPECS points is to achieve relationships with Dateables whether it is Friends, Love or Hate. Each Dateable will only give you 5 SPECS points of a single attribute. The attribute of the SPECS points depends on which attribute category the Dateable is a part of. There are 20 Dateables in each attribute category.

Throughout the entire course of the game, you will gain 500 SPECS points, maxing out each attribute with 100 points. However, there are a couple of known bugs that might affect this number:
There is a way to make up for the missing SPECS points but it involves having the Lavish DLC. Both Lucinda Lavish and Michael Transaction, the DLC’s Dateables, allows you to get more SPECS points. Lucinda can give you 5 points in each attribute in your interactions with her, to prove that she’s the best character in the game. Meanwhile, you can pull for some gear for a limited number of times with Mikey- which can give you up to 10 SPECS points a gear.
