Date Everything: A Guide to Maggie's Investigations

In your quest to Date Everything, you will need to put on your detective hat- as solving Maggie’s investigations can help you romance or befriend the Magnifying Glass. This dating simulator allows a peek into what it is like to date your household objects, made possible by using a device called the Dateviator.

Maggie’s inquisitive nature, while invasive at times, proves to be helpful for some Dateables’ storylines. To unlock any of her Endings, your acceptance of her personality and your involvement in solving the mysteries will determine which one you’ll end up with. A majority of your dates will be spent solving these very cases.

Upon meeting her in the tutorial, she introduces the 'Roomers' app to your phone- which stores every hint that you receive about the location and existence of other Dateables that you have yet to meet.

How To Unlock Maggie

Maggie’s location itself is a mystery, appearing out of place at a random shelf next to the fireplace of the Living Room. To unlock Maggie, you’ll need to interact with the magnifying glass while wearing the Dateviator.

Maggie appears wearing a light blue trench coat, glasses and a hat made out of two stacked magnifying glasses. She holds one in her hand at all times, often bringing it to her eye in an inspecting pose. She is receptive to any romantic advances, as long as you accept her tendency to snoop- even when she breaches your privacy.

Getting an Ending with Maggie gives you +5 Smarts SPECS points.

How To Change Relationship Status

Maggie’s storyline requires more effort than some others, as it requires solving mysteries relating to other Dateables. Your conversations will not matter as much, though it can help you unlock her Collectables.

How To Get ‘Friends’ Status

To befriend Maggie, you will need to be interested in the cases that she presents and be open to helping her solve it. In your third interaction, she will admit to snooping to figure out what drink you would like. Reply with, ‘You’re so considerate.’

For the Friend Ending, you would have to solve at least one case. Alternatively, you can follow the Love route up until the final conversation, where she asks you about making your relationship official. Reply with, ‘I’m sorry Maggie, I think we should just be friends.

How To Get ‘Love’ Status

To get her to love you is the tricky part, as you would have to solve every investigation. With Sinclaire’s case, that can be a bit hard to achieve.

You will need to solve Dorian’s and Scandalabra’s case, which has a pretty straightforward solution. For Sinclaire's, there are two solutions to his case. The first one, where you conclude that he is a sink, can be achieved through getting all the evidence. Meanwhile, the second option is to agree that he is a man and say that he is in pain. Maggie does not consider this ‘a closed case’ but if you have aced every investigation so far, she will not lock you out of the Love Ending.

In your final conversation, when the option pops up, choose ‘We’re great together’. She will then ask you if you want to ’make this official’. Reply with ‘I would love that.

How To Get ‘Hate’ Status

To get her to hate you, you will decline helping her in any investigation. Completely reject her lifestyle as a detective. Whenever she tells you how she infringed upon someone’s privacy, with you or her old friends, react negatively and tell her to stop.

How To Solve Maggie’s Investigations

There are three investigations that you will solve with Maggie; Dorian’s love letter, Scandalabra’s rumor and Sinclaire's true identity. You will need to solve it in that order, as Maggie prevents it any other way, claiming that you ‘need to know one another a little better’.

Dorian’s Love Letter

To help you with this case, you should look into the fridge to pinpoint the author of this mysterious letter beforehand. Investigate the clues below to conclude the case.

Clues:

  1. The type of paper used = rice paper, an ingredient used in many cooking recipes.
  2. The signature on the letter = the letter M, indicating the author’s initials.
  3. The scent on the paper = truffles, an ingredient used in a variety of meals.

ConclusionMitchell Linn, the personification of Food is Dorian’s secret admirer.

Scandalabra’s Rumor

To progress with Maggie’s storyline involving Scandalabra, you will need to interact with him a few times before, to provide gossip regarding other Dateables.

Maggie will inform you of a rumor that there is a counterfeit object in the house from Lux, Hoove and Wallace. Interrogating each of them will lead you to Stepford the Trophy, who heard the rumor from Scandalabra.

When you question the source of the rumor, he enforces that he is telling the truth and couldn’t bear it when a counterfeit pretends to be real. He lists off some characteristics that he has, which the silverware does not have. Ascertain whether he is telling the truth by his methods on how to spot genuine silver.

Clues:

  1. The appearance of silver is dull, due to a layer of corrosion that forms naturally (tarnish).
  2. Scandalabra’s eloquence does not reflect his pedigree.
  3. The stamp on the silverware is called a silver hallmark, indicating its purity and date of production.

Conclusion: Scandalabra is the counterfeit, as he is not made out of silver.

Instead, he is a mass produced item with a ‘Made in New Jersey’ sticker. His real name is Jon Wick.

Sinclaire’s True Identity

The investigation of Sinclaire’s identity will affect your relationship with him. This storyline is one of the harder ones to nail, and as such, he is the only Dateable so far that can be Realized with a Hate Ending.

After Scandalabra’s mystery is concluded, Maggie will tell you to speak to Sinclaire in your next interaction. Upon speaking to him, you will realise that he has a faulty memory and that his version of the story cannot be trusted. The real story suggests that there was something wrong in the take-out that you brought home from the Questionable Dandelion, causing your sink to experience memory loss.

There are two solutions that you can choose from. The first solution, the easier option, involves agreeing with Sinclaire to appease him. When Maggie disagrees with you, reply with ‘It doesn’t matter- just listen to that guy. He’s in pain!’ If you have solved every investigation so far, you will still be able to get the Love Ending with Maggie, despite her not being satisfied with your conclusion.

Alternatively, you can choose to convince Sinclaire that he is a sink and point out details in his story as evidence. Use the clues down below to convince him.

Clues:

  1. Jimson Weed is a psychedelic weed. (requires 25 Smarts SPECS points)
  2. Exceedrin at a high dosage can cause psychosis.
  3. The ‘punch card’ that Sinclaire claims belongs to Vagabonda is actually an in-sink disposal warranty.

Conclusion: Sinclaire is a sink.

After you present your evidence, Sinclaire starts to feel sick. Tell Sudsy to ‘Hit the disposal!’. Sinclaire will then cough up the remains in his pipes and is now restored to his normal sink self.

How To Get Maggie’s Collectables

Maggie's Collectables

In your interactions with Maggie, you have a chance of receiving a total of 4 Collectables. These items may not be obtainable completely in a single playthrough, as it requires choosing different dialogue options. Here is how you can unlock them:

  • Collectable #1: Speak with Maggie. In your second interaction after the tutorial, she will present you with the mystery of Dorian’s love letter.
  • Collectable #2: Go on a date with Maggie. Maggie will offer you this jasmine green tea that Kopi made, at the start of your third conversation.
  • Collectable #3: Party with Maggie. After solving all of her cases, she will tell you that she ‘barely even know what to say’. Reply with, ‘No need to say anything! Let’s party!’
  • Collectable #4: Have a steamy encounter with the detective. After solving Scandalabra’s case and before starting Sinclaire's case, you will be presented with this option if you have kissed before.

Maggie’s Realization Recipe

Maggie's Realization Recipe

By the end of a Dateables’ storyline, you are given the option to Realize them- to bring them to life. This unlocks their true ending, where you will discover what they will go on to do as real human beings. To Realize them, you will need their Realization Recipe- which is unique to each Dateable.

To Realize Maggie, you will need:

  • Smarts: 100 points
  • Poise: 45 points
  • Empathy: 0 points
  • Charm: 75 points
  • Sass: 30 points

With some Dateables, you will not be able to Realize them even after you have completed their storyline and acquired the needed SPECS points. This is due to their Unfurnished Business- which means that they are still needed to complete other Dateables’ storylines. Once you have Realized a Dateable, you will not be able to interact with them anymore.
