Valve's New Game "Deadlock" Has Appeared On SteamDB

Details about the new unannounced competitive third-person shooter from Valve called Deadlock are becoming more and more numerous every day. In recent days, we have received information about some characters, their abilities, descriptions, seen a couple of gameplay videos demonstrating previously leaked game mechanics, and even learned something new.

There are more and more videos showing the gameplay from different users, who are most likely testers of the game. Each of them demonstrates different features of a particular character: their abilities, type of attack, control, interaction with the environment, and more. The latest almost 17-minute video from user Tyler McVicker combines several merged feet.

The first half is dedicated to demonstrating each of the available characters and all their abilities. Also, thanks to this and another author of Pixel's Stuff channel and some insider information, it became known that there will be not 19 characters, as previously thought, but even a little more — 23. For each of the characters, you can read some clippings of the characters' lore.

Judging by the design and gameplay, the game looks a bit better than the first video leaked online, which is good news. However, there are still people who do not like this design, as well as the graphics in general. The style and design elements of the interface of Deadlock resemble Team Fortress 2, and the main menu has features of Dota Underlords, which has fallen into decline over time.

Also, worthy of attention is a 30-minute visual novel dedicated to one of the Deadlock characters, namely Lady Geist, that was leaked on YouTube. This video was found in the game's files, and the video itself was uploaded by the author of the c1v channel.

In addition, users of the Reddit forum noticed that a page for the game Deadlock appeared in the Steam database. In some titles, it is signed as Project 8, and the main folder of the game is called Citadel, which was the working title of the game along with the alternative Neon Prime.

According to the information on SteamDB, the Deadlock online limit is 897 players. Therefore, we can conclude that almost a thousand alpha testers were selected who had the opportunity to try the game and build a certain opinion about it. At the time of writing, the online game had between 80 and 200 participants.

Currently, the game's release date is unknown, as Valve has not yet made any official announcements regarding Deadlock's release date. Given the amount of information that has been leaked lately, we should expect Deadlock to be announced in the near future and it will happen at Summer Game Fest 2024 on 7 June. It is known that Valve participates in this summer festival dedicated to video games. However, according to insiders, the game should be expected no earlier than 2025.
