DOOM: The Dark Ages Trophy Guide

Many players, when starting a new game run, are interested in the achievements it offers, aiming to collect them right away and not miss anything. If you're one of those trophy hunters and are starting to play DOOM: The Dark Ages, you'll surely want to know about all the trophies in this game and how to obtain them.

How to Unlock All Achievements in DOOM: The Dark Ages

There are a total of 28 trophies (achievements) in DOOM: The Dark Ages, not including the platinum trophy, which is available exclusively for the PS5 version. Half of them unlock during the main storyline, while the rest require more attention—collecting items, completing challenges, and fully upgrading equipment.

None of the trophies can be missed, meaning they can be obtained in a single playthrough or by replaying levels without the fear of having to start the game over.

How Long Does It Take to Unlock All Trophies?

To unlock all achievements in DOOM: The Dark Ages, it will take approximately 13–16 hours. The game is designed to be fully completed in one playthrough, as none of the trophies can be missed, and everything can be done on the easiest difficulty—provided you pay attention to side quests and explore every corner of each chapter.

Achievement Bugs in DOOM: The Dark Ages

There are a couple of achievements in the game that might be difficult to obtain due to technical bugs, specifically the Berserker and Essentially Unstoppable trophies.

⚠️ Berserker Achievement Bug and How to Avoid It

The Berserker trophy, awarded for unlocking all Shield, Rune, and Melee upgrades, might not register if you purchase upgrades in different sections of the game. To avoid this error, a reliable method is to save up all currency: 5925 gold and 33 rubies, and purchase all upgrades at once. It's advisable to do this in one Sentinel Shrine—many players have successfully obtained the trophy in the final shrine in Chapter 22.

Additionally, in the first shrine in Chapter 2, where the game first introduces the upgrade system, you can exit the menu without purchasing to avoid errors early on. Although the bug doesn't always occur when buying in different sections, if it does appear, the only solution might be a complete game replay from scratch. Without a backup, progress will be lost.

⚠️ Demonic Essence Collection Error

Another issue is related to collecting Demonic Essences: if you restart a save point after picking up an Essence but before reaching the next checkpoint, the game might not register the item. Even if you pick it up again, the map and chapter selection menu will still indicate [0/1]. Whether this blocks trophy acquisition is unclear, but even with increased stats, the counter might not update.

To prevent this, do not restart checkpoints after collecting an Essence. For added security, create a PS+ save backup at the start of each section, and after completion, check if the collected counters display correctly.

Additional Stages and Rewards in DOOM: The Dark Ages

Besides the official trophies, The Dark Ages features in-game stages that are not part of the achievement list but offer cosmetic bonuses as rewards for completion. This might include mastering a specific weapon or completing a chapter with unconventional difficulty settings.

Chapters like Siege – Part 1, Ancestral Forge, or The Forsaken Plains have their unique tasks. Completing all Gore Nests, collecting every Wraithstone, or fully mastering a certain weapon can unlock skins or other rewards. They don't affect trophy acquisition but are worth attention if you want to get the most out of the game.

The best way to collect everything in The Dark Ages is to play at your own pace, keeping an eye on upgrades, challenges, and collectibles. Pay attention to notes, toys, Demonic Essences, and strive to complete weapon mastery challenges when they become available. If you miss something, no worries: the game allows revisiting previous chapters. However, by being attentive and exploring every corner of the map, you won't miss anything on the first go.

A second playthrough isn't necessary unless you want to try the Ultra-Nightmare mode or simply enjoy the game again. All trophies can realistically be obtained in one attempt, making DOOM: The Dark Ages an ideal game for achieving DOOM The Dark Ages 100% completion
