Feybreak Island Update in Palworld
The Feybreak Island update in Palworld added one of the game's most challenging battles—a tower boss, Bjorn, and his companion Bastigor. This formidable duo is located at the top of Feybreak tower. They are distinguished by their powerful ice attacks and enormous health reserves.
Bjorn, known as the "Jarl of Feybreak," along with his pal Bastigor poses a serious threat that requires careful preparation, the right strategy, and the best equipment. So, we've prepared a guide on how to defeat Bjorn and Bastigor in Palworld.
Where to Find Bjorn and Bastigor
Bjorn and Bastigor are the final bosses of the Feybreak tower located at coordinates (-1294, -1669) in the southwest of Feybreak Island. To get there, you need to go to the Scorched Ashland area on Feybreak Island. From there, head to the Frozen Coral Hill zone. Make sure you have gear that provides cold resistance, which is crucial for this region.
To enter the tower, you must first collect three Bounty Tokens, which can be obtained by defeating alpha pals on the island:
Token | Location | Coordinates |
Dazzi Noct Bounty Token | Northwest of Feybreak tower | [-1343, -1579] |
Caprity Noct Bounty Token | East of Feybreak tower | [-1164, -1653] |
Omascul Bounty Token | Southeast of the Oculus Gate teleport point | [-1184, -1491] |
These tokens grant access to the tower and are mandatory for further progress.
You will also need to go through six other trainers and their pals before reaching the tower of Bjorn and Bastigor:
- Zoe and Grizzbolt
- Lily and Lyleen
- Axel and Orserk
- Marcus and Faleris
- Victor and Shadowbeak
- Saya and Selyne
This journey is quite challenging, so make sure you are well-prepared before taking on the challenge.
How to Prepare for the Battle with Bjorn and Bastigor
Cold Resistance
As mentioned earlier, you need gear that provides protection and resistance against cold to endure the frosty conditions of the Feybreak location and withstand the bosses' icy attacks. For this, you'll need armor, a helmet, and a shield made of Hexolite, which will help absorb some of the enemies' ranged attacks. Required equipment:
- Cold Resistant Hexolite Armor
- Hexolite Helmet
- Advanced Shield
Reach the Required Level
Bjorn and Bastigor are at level 60—the maximum level in the game at this time—so ensure your character and your pals are also at this level to maximize your potential and be on par with the opponents.
Necessary Weapons
For weapon selection, Plasma Cannon and Multi Guided Missile Launcher are the best choices as they have high attack power and a large area of effect. Make sure you have at least 100 plasma rounds in your inventory to avoid running out of ammo during the battle. This weapon will help you defeat the boss duo more easily and quickly than others. If you haven't unlocked this weapon, you can try equipping the Rocket Launcher.
Required Consumables
Also, stock up on a large number of Advanced Recovery Meds and Revival Potions to heal yourself and revive your Pals in case they fall. The duo's attacks are powerful, and your survival may depend on having these items.
Best Pals for the Battle with Bjorn and Bastigor
Bastigor is an ice-type pal, making him very vulnerable to fire-type attacks. Here is a list of the best pals to take into this battle:
Recommended Pals | Why They're Good |
Jormuntide Ignis | One of the most essential pals for this battle. Its fire attacks deal significant damage to Bastigor, and if used as a mount, it boosts the player's fire damage. |
Blazamut and Blazamut Ryu | These pals have powerful partner skills that enhance fire attacks. They are quite resilient, allowing them to withstand attacks while dealing damage. |
Suzaku | Another excellent fire pal with partner skills that boost fire damage. Its speed and agility help dodge attacks and consistently deal damage. |
Incineram | A more accessible option for those who haven't caught the legendary pals. Incineram has a great balance between attack and defense and can learn the potent fire attack Fire Ball. |
Other worthy candidates: Reptyro, Blazehowl, and Bushi, who can also deal additional fire damage during the battle.
How to Defeat Bjorn and Bastigor
The key to defeating Bjorn and Bastigor lies in managing your position and your pals' behavior during the battle. Bastigor is a large, bipedal pal that uses devastating ice-type attacks, many of which have area-of-effect (AoE) capabilities and can hit a large portion of the arena.
The battle takes place in an arena with several columns. Use these columns for cover from attacks and Bastigor's beams. However, be aware that some of his charged attacks can pierce through cover, so you need to completely evade such strikes.
Bjorn rides on Bastigor's back throughout the battle. Targeting Bjorn himself is an excellent way to deal critical damage. When possible, aim for Bjorn's head for maximum impact. Use the recommended weapons, Plasma Cannon or Guided Missile Launcher, to significantly ease landing critical hits.
Your pals should distract Bastigor while you focus your attacks on Bjorn. Utilize their partner skills to boost fire damage and timely replace the pals when their health drops.
Even if all your pals fall, you can still win the fight solo using the Plasma Cannon. Continue utilizing cover and carefully timing your shots to gradually take down the bosses.
Main Attacks of Bastigor
Attack | Description | How to Avoid |
Icicle Drop | Bastigor summons ice shards that fall from the sky, dealing damage in a small area around the landing spot. | Watch for circles on the ground indicating the shards' landing zone. Move out of this area in time to avoid the hit. |
Ice Throw | Bjorn and Bastigor create an ice projectile in front of them, throwing it at the target, which then explodes in a small radius. | Hide behind cover to avoid the projectile hit, then retreat to dodge the explosion. |
Frozen Water Beam | Bastigor forms a sphere that releases a powerful water stream directed at the target for several seconds. | The attack takes some time to charge, so use this opportunity to hide behind cover. Avoid getting hit, or you will be stunned. |
Avalanche | Bjorn and Bastigor create a series of ice spikes that consecutively fly towards the target. | The ice spikes fire with a slight delay between each shot. Dodge sideways or use cover to avoid getting hit. |
Ice Stomp | Bastigor stomps the ground with a paw, causing an ice explosion that spreads forward. He then charges towards the target. | Back away to avoid the ice explosion, then dodge sideways to avoid the charge. |
Water Geysers | Bastigor creates water geysers that move horizontally or vertically towards the target. | Dodge forward through the horizontal geyser or sideways if the geyser moves vertically. |
Kings Of Ice | Bastigor freezes parts of the arena, causing surges of ice spikes that deal damage and freeze the player. | Watch which parts of the arena start freezing and promptly move to a safe zone. Alternatively, hide behind cover to avoid additional attacks after freezing. |
