Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a large-scale medieval RPG that emphasizes realism. This means you'll need to pay attention not only to skills and combat but also to ensuring the main character, Henry, stays well-fed, well-rested, and, importantly, clean.
Keeping your clothes and armor clean is important not just for aesthetic reasons. Dirty, blood-stained, or grimy clothing reduces your charisma, which can negatively affect dialogues, tasks, and overall reputation. To learn how to wash clothes and bathe Henry, we’ve detailed it in this guide. However, if you want to do it yourself, you'll need soap.
Where to Find Soap in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Soap is quite a common item in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and can be found in several ways. Exploring chests and cabinets throughout the game world often yields useful items, including soap.

Additionally, searching defeated enemies is another good way to replenish supplies. Soldiers, bandits, and travelers often carry it with them. If you make it a habit to thoroughly search bodies after battles, you should have a few pieces of soap in your inventory.
If you haven’t found soap, it can always be purchased from bathhouse owners or various merchants. Prices may vary, but if you’re good at negotiating, you can significantly lower the price and stock up on soap without spending too much.

If you want to make soap yourself, you can use alchemy.
How to Brew Soap in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
If you don’t want to spend money buying soap or searching for it in locations, you can craft it yourself using alchemy. To do this, you need to find a recipe sold by an apothecary in Troskovice for 109.9 groschen. An alternative is to find a recipe book on the second floor of the bathhouse in Jeléjov. It’s left unattended, so it’s easy to steal.
Necessary Ingredients: | Crafting Process: |
Oil | Fill the cauldron with oil. |
Thistle | Grind the thistle in the mortar. |
Add the ground thistle to the cauldron and boil for two turns of the hourglass.
Dandelion | Add the dandelion and boil for another turn. |
Charcoal | Grind the charcoal. |
Add the ground charcoal to the cauldron.
Pour the mixture into a bottle to complete the soap-making process. |
This alchemical process allows you to always have a supply of soap without relying on merchants or random loot.

How to Use Soap for Laundry
Once you have soap in your inventory, you need to find a place for laundry. Bathhouses provide a full range of cleaning services, but if you want to save money, it’s better to use wash areas near bodies of water.
While exploring the world, look for small wooden platforms or stands over rivers and ponds. If you approach such a place, the game will prompt you that you can wash clothes there.
The location will be added to the map after the first visit, making it easier to find in the future.
When using the wash area, you will have two options:
- Wash yourself – a quick wash to maintain Henry's personal hygiene.
- Wash clothes – you’ll need soap for this, after which you can select clothing items to wash.

To start washing, hold the corresponding button (X/A), and a menu will open displaying all the clothes you have. In the upper right corner, you’ll see how many pieces of soap you have left. As you select more clothes, you’ll see how much soap is needed to complete the process.
After selecting the clothes, press (Square/X), and after a while, your items will be clean. Once the process is complete, you can check the inventory to see how much soap is left and its updated price if you wish to sell it.
Why Clean Clothes Matter
A neat appearance is important not only for aesthetics but also for gameplay. A dirty Henry generates a negative response from NPCs, complicating interactions with them. Charisma plays a significant role in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, affecting dialogue options, merchant prices, and even quest outcomes. A clean Henry has a much better chance of persuading, intimidating, or charming the interlocutor.
Besides social benefits, clean clothes also help keep your armor in good condition. They not only look better but also earn more respect from nobility and important characters.

Alternatives to Using Soap
If you don’t have soap or don’t want to spend time on manual laundry, there are other ways to keep Henry presentable:
- Bathhouses – here you can wash, launder clothes, and even treat minor injuries. It costs money but is the most convenient option.
- Buckets of water – scattered throughout the game world, they allow for a quick wash but don’t clean clothes.
- Rain – heavy rain can wash away some dirt and blood, but it doesn’t provide the same benefits as using soap or a bathhouse.

Useful Places for Laundry and Baths
If you want to keep your clothes clean, here are some useful places:
- Bathhouse in Jeléjov – located next to the Wagoner’s Inn, it’s one of the most convenient places for cleaning.
- Bathhouse in Kuttenberg – located near the Devil’s Den, north of Horshan.
- Pond near the village of Semini – a natural washing spot, near the Lower Mill of Semini.
Knowing these places will allow you to keep Henry presentable without much hassle.
