In Dune: Awakening, on first play, a player would be selecting a starter class which would have only one ability. As they advance in-game, they would be able to unlock abilities from other battle disciplines, such as Trooper, Planetologist, Assassin, or Swordmaster. For this, they would have to find a matching trainer and complete their quests.
The trainer named Arno can be found at Pinnacle Station, located in the far northwestern corner of the Jabal Eifrit Al-gharb region — south and east of the Eastern Shield Wall. Reaching the station on foot is quite difficult, so it is highly recommended to use a Sandbike or ornithopter to traverse the desert terrain.
After speaking with Arno and asking to begin training, he will provide you with a contract called "Swordmaster: Basics: Checking The Post." This is a required quest that, once completed, unlocks the basic Swordmaster skill tree. As a reward, you’ll receive 700 XP and 5500 Solari, which can be spent at the trading post in the same station.
This is the easiest step, although it requires a journey east of Pinnacle Station. Just follow the quest marker. Outside the cave, you'll face only one enemy. Inside, look for a white square (the quest marker) and interact with it. This will unlock the next step.
After finishing the first stage, a new map marker will appear — the crash site of the ship Pallas. It’s located northwest of the Anomaly.
This area is a PvP zone, so it’s best not to carry valuable items to avoid losing them upon death. There are scattered NPCs around the wreck, but they can easily be avoided. You can enter the wreckage from the side, roof, or rear.
This is the final point of the route. After visiting it and completing the task, return to Arno to fully unlock the Swordmaster skills.
After unlocking the basic skills, players can gain access to advanced Swordmaster abilities through a quest chain from Seron Varlin, another NPC located in Harko Village — a settlement under Harkonnen control. The best way to reach it is via ornithopter or by paying transporters (≈2500 Solari).
The Swordmaster class is ideal for players who prefer close-quarters combat and fast-paced combos. The abilities allow you to quickly close the distance, block attacks, dodge, and eliminate enemies with the efficiency of a true blade master.
