Grow a Garden: How To Get Zombified Mutation

Grow a Garden’s recent update introduces an exclusive pet, the Chicken Zombie, that can only be obtained through joining the game right before the update’s release. The promise of this very pet made Grow a Garden reach a record of 5 million concurrent players on May 17, 2025.

Having the Chicken Zombie in your garden will grant you Zombified crops. Currently, it is the only mutation in the game that can only be obtained by equipping a pet.

Here’s what you can do to get the Zombified mutation and all the benefits of its mutated crop.

How To Get Zombified Mutation

For starters, you will need a Chicken Zombie. If you were one of the players that were present for the Chicken Zombie Event or you were gifted the pet by another player, you’ve got this covered.

Equip the pet in your inventory, and right click it anywhere in your garden to release it. It will wander around your farm, moving like a Chicken but with growling zombie noises. After 29:25 minutes, there is a 20.69% chance that a nearby fruit has been Zombified. The game notifies you whenever a crop has been mutated and what kind of crop it was.

Value of Zombified Crops

Mutations increase the value of your crops, allowing you to sell it at a more expensive price. Some players also like to collect these crops, choosing to keep it in their garden, especially if an item has stacked and rare mutations.

Unlike the other new mutations Moonlit and Bloodlit, Zombified crops can’t be traded in exchange for Lunar points. It only exists as a crop value multiplier, similar to all the other mutations such as Frozen, Shocked and Golden.

The Zombified mutation has a x25 multiplier, the 5th highest multiplier next to Rainbow (x50), Shocked (x100), Celestial (x120) and Disco (x125).

The value multiplier, combined with the fact that the Chicken Zombie is no longer obtainable, might have just made this mutation the most priceless thing to have in your garden.
