Iron ore doesn't appear just anywhere in Dragonwilds. If you're serious about mining it, you need to know where to look. The main deposits of this ore are located in the Stormtouched Highlands.

This area is situated directly west of the Fractured Plains and is definitely not suitable for beginners who have just started playing Dragonwilds. You can't just walk in there with a wooden sword—you'll need decent gear, preferably no lower than Power Level 3, just to make it there alive.

Once you reach Stormtouched Highlands, stick to the cliffs and rocky crags. The iron deposits blend into the terrain, but if you pay attention, you'll spot them. They appear as large, slightly rusty nodes protruding from the rock. If you've unlocked the "Detect Ore + Clay" spell, now is the time to use it. It will highlight the nodes and save you a lot of time in locating the ore.

How to Craft a Bronze Pickaxe in Dragonwilds

Finding the ore is only half the battle. Without the right tool, you can't do anything with it, and a regular pickaxe won't help here. To mine iron in Dragonwilds, you'll need a bronze pickaxe. Here are the materials required to craft it:

How to Obtain Iron Ore in Dragonwilds

Once you have a pickaxe, you can head to the iron ore deposits. Upon finding an iron node, mine it using the pickaxe. You can also use the Rocksplosion spell, which helps break the ore so you can gather the iron resource more easily. This ability requires Mining Level 11 and 15 Earth runes and 5 Fire runes.

How to Smelt Iron Ore in RuneScape Dragonwilds

Once you have iron, you'll need to smelt it into iron bars for further crafting needs, such as making weapons, armor, and other items. For this, you'll need a furnace, which you should already have if you've previously created bronze bars. Either way, here are the necessary materials for the furnace:

• 24 Stone
• 6 Clay
• 4 Charcoal
• 10 Fire Runes
• 8 Vault Shards

Place the iron ore in the furnace to smelt it into bars. Three pieces of iron ore create one iron bar, meaning a 3:1 ratio. This means you'll need a lot of ore to produce iron for further needs.

Now that you have iron bars, you can use them for all your crafting and crafting needs where they are required. Primarily, iron is used to create gear (armor, weapons), as well as some tools, construction items, or decor.
