The fast travel in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 revolves around specific checkpoints referred to as Expedition Flags. They serve as the major travel tools in the game world, enabling quick transit between places the player has previously visited.
Expedition Flags in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 serve several important functions that greatly facilitate exploration and progression. First, each flag acts as a rest point, fully restoring your party's health and replenishing potions and other useful items. This is especially helpful before tough battles or after exploring dangerous zones.
Second, resting at a flag causes all enemies in the current area to respawn. This mechanic allows players to re-engage in battles to earn additional experience and efficiently level up their characters.
Finally, every activated flag is automatically added to the list of available fast travel points. This enables instant travel between previously visited flags, but only within the same zone. For example, in the Flying Waters location, you can fast travel between flags in that area, making exploration and questing much more convenient.
It's important to note that fast travel via flags is limited to the current zone. You cannot teleport from a flag in Flying Waters directly to a flag in Ancient Sanctuary. To travel between different zones, you must use the global world map — known as the Continent.
On the global map, you can move between regions either on foot or by progressing through the story. Instant travel between zones, like in some other RPGs, is not available here.
The fast travel system in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 strikes a balance between convenience and the classic spirit of adventure RPGs. It encourages players to explore the world gradually, unlock new flags, and plan their journeys more thoughtfully.
