Falcons are on top! After losing the final of PGL Cluj-Napoca earlier this year, they have now taken revenge and won the PGL Bucharest 2025 trophy. In the grand final, they crushed G2 with a clean 3-0 win. This marks their first big title since building the new lineup. The team looked solid throughout the event, and in the final, they played their best CS2 yet. For the win, Falcons earned $400,000, while G2 received $187,500.
The next big tournament is just around the corner — IEM Melbourne 2025, with a $1,000,000 prize pool. It starts on April 21 and will run until April 27. The big dogs NAVI, MOUZ, and Vitality will be back there, so the event is going to be exciting.

NiKo leads Falcons to victory
Nikola "NiKo" Kovač once again proved that he is one of the best riflers in the world. The Bosnian star earned his second MVP of 2025 after carrying Falcons to the title. His numbers weren’t the highest of the year, but his impact was undeniable. Especially in the grand final, where he took over the games on Ancient and Nuke, helping his team close out the series in dominant fashion.
He had 0.75 kills per round, 83 ADR, and an overall rating of 6.4 across the event. While the early matches weren’t his best, NiKo showed up when it mattered most.
NiKo’s Ratings at PGL Bucharest 2025:
- vs. Complexity – 5.2
- vs. GamerLegion – 6.3
- vs. paiN – 7.6
- vs. Rare Atom – 7.5
- vs. The MongolZ – 6.6
- vs. GamerLegion (Quarterfinals) – 5.7
- vs. FaZe (Semifinals) – 6.4
- vs. G2 (Finals) – 6.3
This was also NiKo’s first big title with Falcons since joining the team. After coming so close earlier this year, it’s a well-deserved reward for his hard work and leadership.

Outstanding performers – EVPs
While NiKo was the MVP, several other players had standout tournaments. Let’s take a look at the most impactful players of the event:

Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov (Rating: 6.9)
The young AWPer was G2’s best player once again. He played at a very high level from start to finish, carrying his team through tough matches. This was his last tournament with G2 after more than three years. Rumors say he will join Falcons, and if that happens, they could become an even scarier team.
David "frozen" Čerňanský (Rating: 6.6)

Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli (Rating: 6.6)
Complexity were not expected to make a deep run, but hallzerk changed that. The Norwegian AWPer was in top form, helping his team beat Falcons and Aurora in the group stage. Thanks to him, Complexity made it further than many expected.

Abdulkhalik "degster" Gasanov (Rating: 6.3)
The sniper had a strong playoffs run and played well in the final. He was even part of the MVP talks for a moment. But a weak group stage held him back. Still, he earned his first EVP as part of Falcons. Rumors suggest this could also be degster’s last event with the team.

Falcons are flying high
With this win, Falcons now join the list of top CS2 teams in 2025. They reached the finals at both PGL events this year and finally claimed a trophy in Bucharest. NiKo looks comfortable, and if m0NESY joins, this lineup could become unstoppable.
It’s also great to see other names like hallzerk and frozen stepping up. Meanwhile, Spirit’s stars continue to shine but still fall short of finals, and G2’s rebuild is clearly not over yet.
With IEM Melbourne on the horizon and many teams looking for improvements, the CS2 season is heating up. But for now, this moment belongs to NiKo and Falcons, who proved they can go all the way.
