The 2024 season of Counter-Strike 2 brought plenty of unforgettable moments, not only because of the competitive matches but also due to the roster changes that reshaped the professional scene. Many organizations made significant moves to adapt to the ever-changing meta and improve their performances. Here is a detailed look at some of the most impactful transfers of the year, featuring players who revitalized their careers or brought fresh energy to their new teams.
Brollan – MOUZ
Brollan officially joined MOUZ in 2024 after a loan period at the end of 2023. This Swedish rifler proved to be a perfect replacement for frozen, delivering consistently strong performances throughout the year. His experience balanced well with MOUZ’s youthful lineup, making him a pivotal player. Brollan’s impact was evident as MOUZ reached the playoffs in two Majors and won several notable tournaments. Despite being only 22 years old, he brought a level of maturity and skill that elevated the team’s overall performance, especially during high-pressure matches.

s1n – M80
The transfer of s1n to M80 might not have seemed groundbreaking at first, but it turned out to be an excellent move for both the German in-game leader and the North American organization. Under s1n’s leadership, M80 displayed notable improvements, reaching the quarterfinals of ESL Pro League Season 20 and performing well in several other tournaments. While M80 didn’t secure Major appearances, they showed significant growth, proving s1n’s ability to unlock the potential of his teammates and bring structure to a developing roster.
headtr1ck – B8
headtr1ck’s move to B8 after a challenging stint with NIP turned out to be a win-win for both the player and the team. Acquired as part of a deal that sent r1nkle to NIP, headtr1ck thrived in an environment with less pressure. This change allowed him to regain confidence and deliver strong performances. B8 benefited from his skill, qualifying for several LAN events and even reaching the final of ESL Challenger Katowice 2024. Although they fell short of Major qualification, headtr1ck’s presence undeniably strengthened the roster.
ztr – GamerLegion
ztr’s move to GamerLegion was a surprising yet impactful transfer. Known for his tactical mind and potential as a leader, ztr joined a young roster that had much to prove. Under his guidance, GamerLegion qualified for the Opening Stage of the Perfect World Shanghai Major and advanced to the Elimination Stage, showcasing resilience and determination. ztr’s ability to manage a team of young players while contributing with solid performances of his own helped GamerLegion stabilize as a consistent top-20 team.
blameF – fnatic
After a frustrating period with Astralis, blameF joined fnatic and became the cornerstone of their new roster. Despite initially seeming like a step down for the Danish star, the move rejuvenated both the player and the organization. fnatic, which had struggled to remain competitive, managed to qualify for a Major and reached the playoffs of multiple LAN events. blameF’s individual brilliance and leadership provided fnatic with a foundation to rebuild their competitive identity, setting the stage for future success.
malbsMd – G2
MalbsMd’s transfer to G2 might be the most talked-about move of the year. The Guatemalan star transitioned seamlessly into G2, proving to be a worthy replacement for NiKo. Despite playing out of his natural role, malbsMd delivered stellar performances, helping G2 secure several key victories, including major tournament wins. His mechanical skill and adaptability stood out, marking him as one of the best signings of the year. G2’s success in 2024 owes much to malbsMd’s arrival.
The IGL of Passion UA Rodion “fear” Smyk also thinks that G2 and MOUZ made great deals beneficial for both the players and the clubs:
I like Brollan in MOUZ and malbsMd in G2. These are really good, cool, plus transfers. For players and for organisations. And malbsMd and Brollan are cool cases. Although I heard that Brollan is quieter, doesn't communicate. MOUZ is all young, the Academy, they're on vibe, maybe they somehow discovered him. Yeah, I heard that he's so anti-social.

skullz – FURIA
After a less-than-stellar run with Liquid, skullz returned to Brazil to join FURIA. He was an incredibly important team’s part in clutch situations and supportive playstyle. Also skullz unlocked the potential of his teammates, allowing them to shine. FURIA’s results improved significantly, with the team reaching the semifinals of IEM Rio 2024 and narrowly missing out on the playoffs of the Shanghai Major. His consistency and teamwork made him a vital part of FURIA’s resurgence.
ultimate – Liquid
Liquid’s acquisition of ultimate was one of the boldest moves of 2024. The young Polish AWPer had little experience on the big stage, but he quickly adapted to the demands of tier-one competition. His clutch potential and steady aim brought stability to Liquid, who went on to reach the playoffs of multiple tournaments, including a deep run in the Major. ultimate’s rapid development and consistent impact proved that taking a chance on an unproven talent can pay off in a big way.
Yet fear is still not satisfied with what Liquid achieved:
An organisation of Liquid's level should not fight for the playoffs of a major, it should fight to win a major.
degster – HEROIC
HEROIC’s signing of degster addressed their long-standing issue with inconsistency in the AWPer role. While his initial performances were shaky, degster found his footing and brought much-needed stability to the team. HEROIC’s results improved dramatically, with the team reaching the semifinals of IEM Rio 2024 and making it to the playoffs of the Shanghai Major. degster’s individual skill and game sense gave HEROIC the edge they needed to compete at the highest level.
Lucaozy – MIBR
Lucaozy’s transfer to MIBR added another layer of firepower to the Brazilian roster. Despite some role overlap with insani, the team successfully adapted, utilizing both players to their fullest potential. MIBR’s journey through the Shanghai Major’s Opening Stage and their subsequent near-playoff appearance highlighted the effectiveness of Lucaozy’s addition. His youthful energy and sharp aim contributed significantly to the team’s improved results.
The 2024 season of CS2 was defined by these standout transfers, each bringing unique qualities to their teams. From young talents like ultimate and malbsMd making their mark to veterans like blameF and degster revitalizing their careers, these moves reshaped the competitive landscape. As the scene evolves, these transfers will undoubtedly be remembered as pivotal moments in the history of Counter-Strike.
