All Scadu Altus Dungeons Overview

Each of the new regions in Elden Ring: Shadow of Erdtree contains several dungeons. By exploring these dungeons, you can obtain valuable resources, weapons, and items that will be useful to you. In this article, we will review all the dungeons in Scadu Altus and address the following questions:

  • How to reach the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past?
  • How to reach the Fog Rift Catacombs?
  • How to reach Bonny Gaol?
  • How to reach Darklight Catacombs?

Ruined Forge of Starfall Past

Let's start the review of Scadu Altus dungeons with the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past. This is one of the optional dungeons in Elden Ring. To reach the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past, head to the most convenient site of grace — Moorth Ruin. From there, proceed across the field ahead, bypassing the trees until you reach the stone structures. Look for the columns; the entrance to the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past is near them. This dungeon is another underground forge inhabited by stone golems and lava crawlers. It's a great place to replenish your supply of smithing stones, necessary for upgrading your weapons.

There will be no boss at the end of the dungeon, which simplifies its completion. However, you can still receive a valuable reward by taking the Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone and the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword from the altar. If you thoroughly explore the dungeon, you can also find a Smithing Talisman and Smithing Cirque to add to your equipment collection.

Fog Rift Catacombs

The next dungeon you can explore in Scadu Altus is the Fog Rift Catacombs. Start your journey from the Castle Fron site of grace, which should already be unlocked. Turn left from the nearby bridge, run between the tents, and exit past the barricades. Summon your horse Torrent for mobility.

Run forward between the trees and gravestones until you reach a rift guarded by armed enemy soldiers. Continue moving straight and try to ignore the enemies to save time and resources. Descend the slope or jump down the rocky ledges. Head towards the stone coffins until you reach a rock with a door leading to the Fog Rift Catacombs in Scadu Altus.

This is a rather large and maze-like dungeon filled with imps and mages, as well as traps like spiked ceilings that descend. Here, you can collect a lot of Yellow Fulgurbloom flowers and smithing stones. Additionally, there are several interesting items to help you in battle: the Sword of Darkness and the Blinkbolt Ashes of War.

At the end of the Fog Rift Catacombs, you will face a boss — the Death Knight. Defeating him will reward you with 110,000 runes, his weapon — the Twin Axes, and the Crimson Amber +3 medallion.

Bonny Gaol

Another dungeon in Scadu Altus is Bonny Gaol. To reach it, you need to travel to Bonny Village. If this location is not unlocked, follow the route described below. Teleport to the Moorth Ruins site of grace. Head straight towards the giant ruined arch, bypassing it on the left via the stone ledges. Continue a bit further until you reach a chasm and descend to the bottom using roofs and rocky ledges. Then, proceed through the cave tunnel and climb the ladder.

As you move forward, you will see a sign indicating you have arrived at Bonny Village; activate the site of grace. Move between the buildings and then across the hanging bridge. Continue straight until you reach a location filled with scattered broken cages, and enter the cave leading to Bonny Gaol.

This Scadu Altus dungeon is filled with shadow wraiths and mutant monsters that inhabit jars. The location is quite confusing, so it's easy to get lost and miss useful items. Here, you can mostly obtain Frozen Maggot resources, Hefty Cracked Pot items, the Stalwart Horn Charm, and Lost Ashes of War. The best acquisition here will be the Night armor set.

At the end, you will face Curseblade Labirith, a nimble dungeon boss of Bonny Gaol, who is not difficult to defeat if you have good resistance to physical attacks or can dodge his quick strikes in time. Defeating him will reward you with 100,000 runes and the Curseblade Meera spirit.

Darklight Catacombs

The last dungeon in Scadu Altus we will review is the Darklight Catacombs. To get there, start from the entrance to Shadow Keep in Scadu Altus. After defeating the Golden Behemoth, proceed through a series of corridors and rooms to a large dining hall guarded by two knights.

Head straight to the stairs leading down. After passing through a waterfall, find the stairs to the sewer and a hidden path near a painting between lit torches. The stone coffin at the end of the path will transport you to Castle Watering Hole. Then, from the Ruins of Unte, head southeast to the Revered Spirit Ash, then south past the Furnace Golem to the site of grace left of the waterfall.

Jump across the gaps to reach the clearing with the altar and continue south to Recluses' River Downstream. Descend the cliff and head straight to the cave leading to the cemetery, where double doors will lead you to the Darklight Catacombs.

This location is filled with many imps, including very dangerous ones that spit fireballs. Here you have the opportunity to replenish your supply of Yellow Fulgurbloom and Ghost Glovewort. One of the interesting rewards will be the Death Knight armor set, which you fought in the previous dungeon.

The boss of the Darklight Catacombs is Jori, Elder Inquisitor, who mainly attacks with sacred damage and summons spirits, against which you can use the ash spirit to distract them. Defeating the boss will reward you with 260,000 runes and his weapon — the Barbed Staff-Spear.
