It's already the fourth Christmas since the release of Valorant, but the developers at Riot Games continue to ignore this holiday. Today, on the information portal Reddit, the community once again addresses the company and discusses this topic.
In the largest Reddit community dedicated to Valorant, a user with the nickname AndrewFrozzen30 created a discussion topic in which he once again raised the issue of Christmas. He wonders why Riot Games won't add any events or special festive skins. In the comments to the discussion, players compare Valorant with another Riot discipline - League of Legends, where there were also no Christmas events, except for some characters that were released during this period, or map decorations that took place back in 2011-2012.
The main argument in favor of developers not creating Christmas events is their management. At the beginning of 2011, the Chinese company Tencent acquired a major stake in Riot, and the fact is that China does not celebrate Christmas. Although users believe that events would not affect profitability, as users from other regions happily buy sets and skins with Chinese themes. It is also assumed that the developers consider this offensive to Chinese players, who do not consider Christmas a holiday, and thus do not want to offend a large part of their community.
Considering the trend in League of Legends, as well as recent years in Valorant, it can be assumed that the developers do not plan to change their opinion regarding Christmas holidays. Therefore, the gaming community can only hope that Riot Games will change their policy in the future.
