Vanity: "2023 was the most challenging year of my life"

North American esports player representing Cloud9, Vanity, shared the reasons for his return to the team and discussed the 2023 season at the VCT AMERICAS press conference.

Vanity joined Cloud9 in August 2021, but after a setback at the 2023 VCT LOCK//IN tournament in March, he, along with Yay, announced their departure from the team. There may have been difficulties in team relationships, but during the current offseason, Vanity returned to Cloud9, taking on the role of captain.

Having left Cloud9 before the start of the previous season's AMERICAS League, Vanity expressed his thoughts on the year 2023, calling it "the most challenging in life". He emphasized that, despite the successes, he felt a significant decline in morale. Vanity noted that two to three years of his hard work were in vain when he finally achieved his goal. Psychologically, it was difficult for him to come to terms with leaving Cloud9.

Returning to Cloud9 in the current offseason, Vanity highlighted that the decisive factor was a favorable offer from Cloud9 and the opportunity to continue competing with the team. He also mentioned considering the possibility of joining Team Liquid, but that idea did not materialize.

Currently, Cloud9 is preparing to participate in the VCT AMERICAS 2024 KICK-OFF tournament, starting on February 17. The team has made three changes to the roster and coaching staff during the offseason.
