The service Steam Charts, specializing in collecting statistics, summarized and published a ranking of the most popular categories on Twitch. The game Valorant took fourth place, surpassing its main competitor - CS.
Valorant, despite the release of a new version CS2 in 2023, which brought a significant amount of hype and boosted the activity of Valve's project, still finished the year in fourth position, while CS was in fifth. These same positions were also held by these disciplines in 2022. Overall, the popularity of these two major shooters globally did not change much over the year.
Overall, Valorant accumulated 980 million hours of viewership over 12 months, which is nearly 300 million more than CS. However, this is 179 million less than in 2022.
Even if the numbers of hours indicate a decrease in the popularity of the disciplines in 2023, it should be noted that the number of events, quality, and prize pools have significantly increased over the past year. In 2024, Riot Games plans even more events, which should undoubtedly have a positive impact on the popularity of the discipline.
